Tara, graciously, had an honorable mention for everyone in the fest! She's cool like that! I'm, well, lazy, and didn't have as many, but I did have a few.

Angela Brown submitted an excerpt from her WIP, They All Fall Down. I'm hooked already and can't wait to read what happens next in this book! Thank you, Angela Brown!

Alex J. Cavanaugh wrote about Mini-Alex's first rock concert! ROCK ON! Thank you, Alex!

M. Pax wrote about volunteering at an observatory. So cool that she still gets a thrill when she re-discovers the universe from a telescope. Thank you, M. Pax!

and last but not least

Suzanne W. Skeels, aka my Mom/editor/mentor/sounding board/friend, wrote some sappy piece about her exciting life of thrills and then about having me.

Even though she made it sound like she gave birth to me at 66, I still thinks its a great story. Duh, it stars me!

Her prize? She gets to babysit the seven year old tonight while I stand in the rain, again, at carnival. She's a trooper! Thanks, Mom!

So, folks, that about wraps it up! Thank you! Have a great weekend! Enjoy some thrills! Write! Be happy! See you on Monday!

Wow. Just wow.

Monday was fan-bleepin'-tabulous!

You guys are the best!

The only problem with having such wonderful THRILLS to read from all of you is that we have to pick winners!

And....we will...on Friday! :)

Thank you so much for participating.

What else is going on you ask?

Carnival!

Yeah, that's an actual photo of our carnival from a few years ago.

The Warwick Fire Department hosts carnival every year at the beginning of summer.

It's fun cause you never know how many thunderstorms roll through an area in June until you stand outside in a big field under giant metal rides for four nights.

The WFD Auxiliary sells 50/50 tickets as a fundraiser each year. That's what I'll be doing for the next four evenings.

On Saturday night we have the big fireworks show. It's awesome. It really kicks off summer in our area.

Wanna come? Here's the info.

June 26 – June 29, 2013
Wed – Friday 6 PM to 11 PM
Saturday 6 PM to 12 AM

What else, you ask?

Well, Maguire's Corner is the 1st Chapter Spotlight on Storyfinds today. Crossing my fingers that it garners some interest from that site.

***

Today's genre: Superhero Films.

The Avengers

Steve Rogers: I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here.
Bruce Banner: I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats. You can smell crazy on him.
Thor: Have a care how you speak! Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard and he is my brother!
Natasha Romanoff: He killed eighty people in two days.
Thor: He's adopted.

I heard this comment had a huge 'parents of adopted children' backlash. I don't get people. I thought it was hilarious.

Next week: water movies.

That's about all I've got. Writing was painful this week and now it's gonna be slim for the rest of the week.

But, we shall prevail!

Don't forget the IWSG post is a week from today (July 3rd)! The three amigos, Nancy S. Thompson/Mark Koopmans/and I, will be co-hosting for Mr. Alex J. Cavanaugh for the day!

A THRILL a minute!!!

And then there were 29!

Today is The Thrill of it All Blogfest!

Tara Tyler, who had her own thrilling family weekend, and I will be heading out today to read all about your thrills!

We have some great prizes all lined up!

So, sign-up and post your biggest thrill on your blog or, if you're the shy type, share a thrill from one of your characters!

Here's a little thrill from Maggie Maguire in Maguire's Corner.

Jack’s gaze took in the whole island with all the different dishes of food. “How many people are you having for dinner tonight?”
Maggie had to laugh, “Just me.”
Jack laughed with her. “Bored, huh?”
“A little. There’s plenty here, you should eat before you go back to work.”
The same manners that had easily invited him to dinner kept her from taking the invitation back. What was she thinking asking the Chief to stay for dinner? Jack appeared more skeptical than surprised.
“If you’re sure it wouldn’t be any trouble?”
“I’m sure. I mean you did save the biscuits.”
Maggie headed for the cabinet that held her plates. Grabbing two, she turned to find Jack directly in
her path. He was very close, in fact only the stoneware plates she held up against her were wedged between them.
“I thought you might need help reaching them, sorry,” Jack said, but he didn’t move away.
Being this close reminded Maggie how large Jack was compared to her. Not just taller either but broad.
Staring straight at him, she could only see the top button of his police shirt, and his lightly tanned skin in the V of the shirt.
Maggie tipped her head back to see his face. He was staring steadily into her eyes and instead of their usual glacier blue, his eyes were the color of warm tropical waters, which made him appear a little less intimidating. Why had she ever believed that he was intimidating?
Maggie was so caught up in admiring Jack that she almost let the plates slip out of her hands. “No problem. Excuse me.”
Jack stepped back and she placed the plates safely down on the counter.

Show us what you've got!

Please, Mr. Coffee Pot, have enough for one more cup....

Will someone please remove the revolving door from my brain today? I can't get anything done! I start on something and the next thing I know I'm standing in another room wondering what I was going to do!

And, I'm old, but not that freakin' old!

I can't even blame it on meds cause I haven't had to take much lately.

I know, I'll blame it on lack of coffee. I've only had one cup of coffee today.

10 after 11:00am? WTF? The BOY will be getting off the bus on his last day of school for the year in 20 minutes!

And, I haven't done a damn thing yet this morning.

Argggghhhhh.

Well, I wrote a book last year when he was home, I will just have to try and do it again this year. :)

Speaking of thrilling adventures...

(see that, see how I did that)

...Have you signed up for The Thrill of it All Blogfest?

You really should.

There are prizes.

You know you want one.

And it only takes a few minutes of your time.

Tara Tyler and I want to know about your biggest thrill, but if you're too shy to share one of your own, share one of your buddies thrills from any of your stories!

That's it!

Sign up, post your thrill on Monday and Tara and I will pick the lucky winners and announce them on Friday, June 28, 2013!

What the flagnar?

It's Monday.

I can't stay long. I have 'real' work to do today and tomorrow. The kind that pays 'money'. I'm way behind.

Here's something to ponder...

I read an article about blogging. There was a list of things to do and not to do on your blog.

I think it's funny that someone would even create this list. Blogging is personal and not to be dictated by anyone. But, I digress.

On the list it said, don't write about what others have already written.

Huh?

How the hell would I know if someone else had already written about something I wanted to write about?

I'm supposed to Google my topics and thoughts before I write about them?

How exhausting.

And even if someone had written a blog about something I wanted to blog about, my opinion will be completely different than their opinion.

I thought that was kind of the point.

Anyway, ponder away at that while I talk about football!

The seven year old is about to start his second year of football. Three day Football Camp is this week followed by Strength and Conditioning training for July followed by the Regular Football Season in August.

This is great news. We had a great time last year and DJ really enjoyed it.

Last season I was editing the hell out of Maguire's Corner while sitting on the sidelines. I would print out pages to bring with me and work on them at practice.

Some of the parents thought I was a teacher correcting papers.

Little did I know that I would be 'published' and working on book two this year.

What is it that Ferris Bueller says?

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Mini-Golf Fail.

Hope you all had an enjoyable Father's Day! We took the husband to a fire department pancake breakfast then for a round of mini-golf. Made burgers on the grill for dinner and brownies w/ vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.

What did you do?

Wings, Weddings and Falls.

I'm only here for a minute.

I'm supposed to be packing for a quick trip to Buffalo, NY.

I'm supposed to be writing.

I'm supposed....

You know.

We have a wedding to attend and then we plan on checking out Niagara Falls, which every time I think about, I suddenly have to pee.

The wings? Well, we will be in the Buffalo area. Would be crazy not to find some good wings.

So, I leave you now to get started on that packing thing.

Make sure to check out Maguire's Corner ... now on Barnes & Noble!

IWSG - Not a people person, I am.

Have I ever mentioned how much I don't like people?

Well, I like you guys.

I guess I should rephrase, slightly.

I don't like people in person.

I mean, it's kind of why I'm a writer.

But, Heather, WTF are you talking about?

Marketing and Promotion.

In order to get and keep my book out there the more I must promote myself the more I must speak to people.

Palpitations.

As I explained to my husband, the thought of going out and talking to people about my book or having a book signing, when paper books would be available, sends waves of anxiety all through me.

I'm so much cooler behind this computer screen.

IRL, I'm just an old mom who wears jeans and sneakers to everything she can get away with and forgets sometimes to check her appearance in the bathroom mirror before she gets in her truck.

Ugh.

And, it's not like I've never stood behind a table to sell things before. Put some raffle tickets in my hand and I'll blow your ear drums out.

But, that's different. I'm not sure why.

Sooner or later, it's going to happen. I'll have to put on my big girl pants and get it done.

Until then...I'll be on my couch.

Thank you, Alex J. Cavanaugh for this great outlet. Check out more insecurities or inspirations HERE.
