Top Ten Horror/Science Fiction Movie Quotes Blogfest
In space no one can hear you scream . . .but in blogland they can. Why not sign up and on the 6th February count down your top ten horror/science fiction movie quotes? Do ten for each, a mixture, or just one category. It's up to you!
---------------------
This was awesome. I chose to mix my horror and sci-fi movie quotes. There were so many great movies to choose from. But I think the best part was going through the quotes (thank you IMDB) and 'watching' the movies again in my head. Makes you want to watch these films all over again.
---------------------
Here is my top ten horror/sci-fi in year order.
Jaws (1975) - “Sometimes that shark he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. The ocean turns red, and despite all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces.” Quint
Alien (1979) - "Jesus, It's a robot. Ash is a god-damn robot!" Parker
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - “Any show of resistance would be futile, Captain.” Spock
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) - “I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further.” Darth Vader
Terminator (1984) - “Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.” Reese
Predator (1987) - “She says the jungle... it just came alive and took him.” Poncho
Sphere (1998) - “I would be happy if Jerry had no emotions whatsoever. Because the thing of it is once you go down that road... here's Jerry, an emotional being cooped up for 300 years with no one to talk to... none of the socialization, the emotional growth that comes from contact with other emotional beings.” Norman
“So...?” Harry
“What happens if Jerry gets mad?” Norman
“What happens if Jerry gets mad?” Norman
iRobot (2004) - “I think it would be better not to die, don't you?” Sonny
Shaun of the Dead (2004) - “Look, I don't care what the telly says, all right? We *have* to get out of here. If we don't they'll tear us to pieces, and that is really going to exacerbate things for all of us.” Shaun
Serenity (2005) - “You had a gorram time bomb living with us! Who we gonna find in there when she wakes up? The girl? Or the weapon?” Capt. Reynolds
Great list Heather, I love Serenity but forgot all about it.
ReplyDeleteAn awesome list, especially the Terminator quote. I forgot just how great that film really was.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking part.
Top Ten Movie Quotes Blogfest
Another great list! Now I feel like breaking out the DVD's and calling it a sci-fi/horror movie marathon day! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I haven't seen the original Star Trek movie in so long, and that quote of course reminds me of the "resistance is futile" one that came up later with the Borg.
ReplyDeleteSo many people remember the "I am your father" quote from Darth Vader that it's refreshing to hear another great quote by Vader.
And great quote from Terminator, too. It's easy to remember "I'm back" but I like that you picked some quotes I'd forgotten about.
First mention of sphere I've seen. Certain movies keep popping up. :) Fun blogfest.
ReplyDeleteAnother great List. I am having a fun time going around and seeing which lines stick in people's heads.
ReplyDeleteLove the Star Trek quote. Especially because it connects to the Borg quotes in Next Generation! It's fun seeing everyone's list and getting a little refresher in movies I saw- although I never saw Serenity and everyone (but me!) has a quote from that one!!!
ReplyDeleteCapping off with a Serenity quote - excellent!
ReplyDeleteGreat list- LOVE Serenity!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to kill Phillip.
ReplyDeleteNice list. I can't believe I've never heard of Serenity until today - it is so popular on the blogfest!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't even think of Star Wars, even if it's more space opera than scifi, it's definitely worthy of quoting. Love your list!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for coming and reading my list. I enjoyed all your comments. I'm off to read the rest of the list.
ReplyDeleteWendy - Thank you. Obsessed with Firefly/Serenity and I do quote it quite a bit.
Ellie - Great blogfest. Thank you. I do love Terminator. Even though AMC has just said the 2nd movie is having it's 20th anniversary this month. Ugh.
DL - I felt the same way. I must have a Star Trek movie marathon soon!
Margo - Thank you. I like the darker quotes I guess. Thanks for your comments.
M Pax - I did enjoy the book Sphere. I think they ruined most of Mr. Crichton's stories making them into movies.
Trisha - This was a fun idea.
Danette - I highly recommend watching the Firefly show then watching Serenity. It's worth it.
Alex - Thank you. Are you a Browncoat?
Budd - I'm so sorry, Phillip!
Kimberly - Thank you. Please watch the Firefly show and then Serenity! Awesome show, cast and writing by Joss Whedon.
Renee - I think the Star Wars saga is epic. It's been part of my life for so long. Thanks for coming.
ReplyDeleteGreat well balanced meal of quotes... i am happy full.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being part of this, it was a great time and success.

iZombie - The way to a Zombie's heart...
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and coming by.
You've got so many of faves here too--Jaws, Terminator, Preditor, and Serenity. Great list!!!
ReplyDeleteLiz - Thanks. I feel like having a movie marathon now!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a horror watcher, but I love the SciFi quotes!
ReplyDeleteDonna - Thanks. I don't like the new horror movies. More gory than scary. I miss the suspense. Thanks for coming.
ReplyDeleteGood list - some good, thoughtful quotes here. I like the I, Robot one... and nice to see Darth Vader making an appearance too!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! A lot of Star Trek fans out there.
ReplyDeleteI love your list! I can't believe I left Serenity off of mine. It was so hard to narrow it down and now I'm seeing there are films that I didn't even contemplate gecause they slipped my mind completely.
ReplyDeletebrokenbiro - Thank you. I'm still laughing over the Vader car commercial with the little boy. If I didn't know better I would think that was my kid!
ReplyDeleteLisa - Thank you. I actually really enjoyed the new Star Trek movie. I thought the young cast did a good job.
Jennie - I feel your pain. I saw someone put The X-Files on their list and I told them I had to go flog myself. And I call myself a fan? I'm ashamed I forgot it.
Thanks for coming!
I'm late commenting, but I like your terminator quote better than "I'll be back" from the second movie.
ReplyDeleteReid - Thank you. Reese was very intense and memorable to me. I don't think they pulled off that sense of fear for survival in the other films, although I did enjoy 2 and 3 for their blowy-up factor. One day I will get to 4.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in and commenting.
