Heads UP!

Here's a little PSA that I had to pass along to you guys.

Did you know that the USA may actually get hit with its own space junk today?

A giant satellite is heading towards us right now!

Don't believe me? Go here

To sum up the article this is what they say:

A huge, dead satellite tumbling to Earth is falling slower than expected, and may now plummet down somewhere over the United States tonight or early Saturday, despite forecasts that it would miss North America entirely, NASA officials now say.
NASA expects about 26 large pieces of the UARS spacecraft to survive re-entry through Earth's atmosphere and reach the planet's surface. The biggest piece should weigh about 300 pounds.
So...HEADS UP!
It would be true irony if it landed in Washington, D.C.

Thursday - I wrote over 1300 words.
Friday - Had a previous engagement scheduled this morning. Writing did not happen.
Very pleased and I hope I can keep this schedule up next week.
I did, however, miss a blogfest today. :(
Michael Di Gesu held the "What I did on my summer vacation" blogfest today.
Still time to sign up.
I think I may have bored you guys already with my summer escapades so I didn't participate.
But if you missed my inane ramblings you can visit here for our Beach/Hershey trip or here to see Stormy the Weather Gnome report on Hurricane Irene or here to check out the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

One last thing...you can still vote for me, or vote again, for the Your Life...The Reader's Digest Version contest on Facebook here.
I'm going to another parade this weekend and watching college football.
What's everyone else doing?

Where's my meds!

What is going on here?

I feel like summer is sneaking out the back door doing the walk of shame and fall has become a giant party crasher spiking the punch!

Where are my days going?

I'm always running late. I'm forgetful. I zone out. I feel like I'm off my meds...and I'm not on any meds!

Maybe I should be on some meds!

I just feel like my days are zinging right past me and now I'm a little lost.

Better go take some iron pills.

Monday - I wrote maybe 100 words or so. Spent most of the morning writing up my 10 worst movie list. That was fun. I still haven't made it around to visit everyone. Working on it.

Tuesday - Had to work, work. That damn work that pays work.

Wednesday - Wrote over 1000 words.

Ahhh. That feels good.

Hoping to do that much damage again tomorrow because I can tell Friday will be a bust already. The weekend...pretty much shot.

How about you? Writing? Dancing? Gleeing?

Supernatural starts on the 23rd. Anyone secretly watch this show? Just me? Damn.

The Worst Movies Ever Blogfest!

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways…at least until 10.

And I have some REALLY bad movies to share!

I said it…they stink on ice.

So, don’t break out the snacks quite yet ladies and gents…you just might lose your lunch.

Here they are, in no particular order…

10: AVATAR – Yes, folks. Bad movie. I liked this film better the first time around when they called it Pocahontas.

9. TITANIC – It stems from disliking Leonardo DiCaprio. Ugh. He may be a great guy IRL but I think he’s a terrible actor. And this movie just reeked ‘we are begging to get an Oscar’.

8. CLIFFHANGER – There are a lot of bad Stallone movies but this one was DOWNRIGHT revolting. I kept hoping some C4 would take down the whole snowy mountain and kill them all.

7. WATERWORLD – The way I hear it there was a much better script written by Joss Whedon that was thrown out by the ‘powers that be’. Then Mr. Kevin Costner rubbed his man-parts all over the film and made it craptastic.

6. ANACONDA – Gigantic, humongous, cumbersome snakes that move faster than the speed of light. ‘Nuff said.

5. POINT BREAK – Yeah, I get sucked in every time it’s on but it’s still a bad, bad movie. I swear I only watch it to get a Keanu fix if Speed hasn’t been on in a while.

4. ALIEN: RESURRECTION – This pains me. Especially since Alien and Aliens were so good. They gave Joss Whedon partial writing credit of this film but the truth is that they destroyed it. I was completely surprised that Sigourney Weaver even put up with the bullshit.

3. JAWS 3-D and JAWS: THE REVENGE – Some say Jaws 3-D is the 3rd movie. Universal disowns it all together and says Jaws: The Revenge is the 3rd movie. Call it what you will these movies should never have been made. I’m still not totally convinced they didn’t make Jaws: The Revenge just because Michael Caine needed a job.

2. HIGHLANDER II – There should have been only one.

1. BASKET CASE – Now, you’ve probably never heard of this movie. I wish I had never heard of this movie. Bad choices like this get made by letting the wrong high school friend go to the video rental store and pick out a movie for all of us to watch. I know we didn't sit through the whole movie. It’s sad. It’s pathetic. It's heinous. The only thing horror about this horror film was that someone paid people to make it.

Well, Peeps, that’s my list. I’m sure I missed a TON of great awful movies and I can’t wait to visit some of you to see what you came up with.

Thank you, Alex J. Cavanaugh, for coming up with a great Blogfest idea!

More progress...YEAH!

Forgive me for the brief and ugly post but I'm writing from my phone.

Wednesday was a bust for writing.
Thursday over 700 words.
Friday over 300 words.

That is more writing in one week than I wrote all summer long. Thank you first grade.

And thanks to you guys for all the encouragement.

See u on Monday for the Worst Movie Blogfest.

Progress

Tuesday - 9/13/2011

Wrote over 800 words on Maguire's Corner.

I read over what I had written both days. It's foundation only and needs a lot of primping and smoothing but its a good start.

Today I will write in the afternoon instead of the morning.

Hopefully I will find my groove then too.

Did you guys sign up for Alex J. Cavanaugh's Worst Movies Ever Blogfest yet? You still have time before September 19th!

Also, Talli Roland's new book Watching Willow Watts is being released today. She's having a shindig on her blog!

Off to get a list of stuff completed. I might just break down and buy Thor today.

Got to start somewhere

Monday - 9/12/2011

Wrote over 700 words today on Maguire's Corner.

It was agonizing but I wrote them.

I don't know if they are any good.

I didn't read them.

I will go back tomorrow and write some more.
I will go back tomorrow and write some more.
I will go back tomorrow and write some more.

Thor comes out on DVD tomorrow!

How are you guys doing?

Thank you.

I had a much different post all typed up and ready to go.

I left it for a while and then read it again and decided it was too personal and too sad to share.

I'm not a shy person.

But when it comes to September 11th I'm still a little sensitive. Even ten years later.

I will say that I didn't personally lose a loved one but my community lost many.

We live so close to Manhattan that the ripple effect hit us for a long time.

And with so many of our first responders getting ill with rare and incurable diseases the hits keep coming.

Tomorrow will be a hard day but in honor of those who were robbed of one we will carry on and we will never forget.

I would like to thank you all for coming to visit on Wednesday. What a great day. I got some awesome advice and support from some really great people. Now I just have to get back to writing.

Insecure Writer's Support Group

So, Mr. Cavanaugh, you say you want to start an Insecure Writer's Support Group.

You say that the purpose of this group is to 'share' and 'encourage'.

Okay. I can do that.

What do I feel insecure about?

Honestly, it might take less time to talk about what I am secure about.

But...right now...I'm afraid I will never finish writing another story.

I have started four or five stories with different ideas, all at different lengths, but I get to a certain point and then - BAM! - nothing.

I run out of story.

I know I have said this before but I don't want to be a 'one-hit-wonder'.

I finished my first book because it was vital.

The question is how do I make my other stories just as vital?

Well, thanks for listening and feel free to leave me some inspiration.

I can't wait to visit some of you to see what y'all are insecure about!

Labor sucks

Hello everyone.

Happy Monday.

Happy Labor Day? Dumb holiday.

Do you know how many people are still working today? Lots. I don't get it.

The other labor day sucks too. I was in labor for two days and then had a c-section. Dumb.

Speaking of evil children...mine goes back to school tomorrow!!! YEAH!!! First grade!!! YEAH!!!

I'm hoping this will be the beginning of a beautiful relationship with my current works in progress.

I just read about yet another of my blogging buddies getting published (congrats Renee Silvana!) and I am sick and tired of wishing it was me.

Dammit! It's going to be me.

I need to treat writing more like a job instead of a hobby.

I need to write for a few hours a day.

I need to find my muse and smack them around a bit.

I need to stop being afraid of failure.

I need to stop feeling sorry myself and start acting like a writer if I ever want to be an author.

Did you get any of that? Does any of that make sense?

Maybe I should have saved this for September 7th and the Insecure Writer's Support Group post.

Damn.

#amwriting

Well...#amreading anyway.

I couldn't sleep last night. Woke up about 3:00 something. So, I pulled out my long neglected Maguire's Corner story and read through it.

It's only about 30,000 words and nowhere near finished but it's a good start. I still like it.

Sometimes I surprise myself.

It's been a while since I've looked at the story but I don't remember writing certain parts.

Shouldn't I remember?

What does that mean?

Hey! Hold your elderly jokes. I know I'm old.

Yeah, sometimes I walk into a room and stand there not remembering why I went in there.

Sometimes I read the same line in a book three times before it sinks in.

But you would think that I would be able to recall the damn words I put on a page.

Guess not.

Going to get some more coffee and ponder my next plot move while I try desperately to stay awake.

Any one have plans for the holiday weekend? Besides watching college football that is?
