Chill pills for passionate fans and Maguire's Corner, now made with real paper!

I'm passionate.

I know it.

Especially about things that mean a lot to me.

Like my favorite books or comic books made into movies.

So, I get it when people get upset when their personal casting couch is ignored and the 'powers that be' choose their own actors for our favorite characters.

Like... IMHO... I think Ben Affleck is going to suck as Batman. I feel he had his chance to be a superhero, Daredevil, and he couldn't pull it off.

Did you see Daredevil 2? Neither did I.

Now... I did not read the 50 Shades trilogy. I know all about it.

I'm not going to read it.

I know they have recently cast Charlie Hunnam as the lead character.

Thank the ever-lovin' universe for this man.

I know some 'fans' are all kinds of pissed about it.

That's fine. Be pissed.

I was pissed when they cast the movie from the book One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. None of those actors were right for their parts. None. I watched the movie when it came out on DVD and still thought the same thing.

But... I didn't protest against the movie or the actors. I didn't start an online petition to get the actors thrown off the film so that it could be recast with other actors. I didn't send hate mail or write threatening notes on social media to the actors.

But... some of the 50 Shades fans are doing just that. The movie studio has had to hire security for Mr. Hunnam because they are concerned for his safety.

That's just bull.

And, one of their major complaints? He's blond!

Have they never heard of hair color? People color their hair all the freakin' time!

I do it at least four times a year!

How can people be so nasty?

It just doesn't make sense to me.

Actors act.

Actors change their appearance.

Actors become their characters.

Actors can do amazing things when given the chance.

Let's all take it down a notch and just see what happens.

Stormy the Weather Gnome interviews Tara Tyler, Author of Pop Travel

Stormy the Weather Gnome is a big fan of Science Fiction Thrillers. He’s got a huge library collection on his GNook.

So, I asked him to interview Tara Tyler about her new Sci-Fi Thriller, Pop Travel.

All yours, Stormy.

***

It’s about time you let me back onto the blog! I haven’t been on here since ... forever! I missed...me!

I have the great pleasure of hosting Tara Tyler! Her new book, Pop Travel, hit the e-shelves in July and I know you’re going to love it as much as you love me!

So, in order to get to know Tara, and her book, a little better let’s ask her … 7 Awesome Questions!

1. Does Pop Travel take place in our future?
Yes.

2. What are your favorite traits about your main characters? And, do you share them?
J.L. Cooper used to be outgoing and fearless, but when his wife died, he turned sarcastic and cynical - I have a little bit of each trait.

3. If you could be a super-hero, which one would it be?
I don't want to be one, but since we're fantasizing, I'd love to be the Hulk's girlfriend! Ha!

4. What toppings do you put on your pizza?
Sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms. Mmm, pizza.

5. Are your characters based on real people?
Not in this book. They were in my first WIP, but that's another story...

6. If magic brought your characters to life what would you say to them first?
Let's make a movie!

7. Have you ever thought about dating a gnome?
Aww, aren't you cute! But, no. I'm not a beard kinda girl.

Tara, no matter how you answered #7 thank you for taking the time to be with me today!

Thank you so much for the unforgettable interview! It was an honor to meet you, Stormy. I'm a big fan! (but I guess most of your fans are big!)

Cooper thought he could get through
life without having to pop...
Pop Travel by Tara Tyler
A tale of deception and teleportation.

When a distraught client enters J.L. Cooper's small town detective agency ranting about a pop travel teleportation cover up, Cooper takes the case. He blames pop travel indirectly for his wife's death and would love to expose a glitch in it.

But the glitch turns out to be disintegrating travelers. And now, his client is dead, his secretary is missing, and a hitman is stalking him. Plus there's all the webcams watching his every move. So, Cooper has to find a way to expose the deadly flaw, while using pop travel to escape the maniacs covering it up, not to mention save a couple of tag-alongs he's not sure he can trust. No problem.

The Storm is here and Stormy the Weather Gnome has got you covered!

Mr. Alex, what can I say? You're a really good sport.

On that note....here is Stormy the Weather Gnome.

***

It's me, Stormy the Weather Gnome coming to you from my porch with a weather related update!

It's nice out here.

Back to you in the studio.

Wait, what is that? What's that dark cloud on the horizon? Did the wind just pick up?

There's a storm coming.

I can feel it.

It's big.

I asked Mr. Alex one simple, mind-altering, universe-changing, end-life-as-we-know-it question.

When your books become movies would you consider casting a gnome for a lead part?

And, like the good man that he is...he responded.
Stormy, you might be just a bit too short to play Byron. You’re probably closer to Bassan’s size. You might need to shave though. And get a tan. How well can you read minds?

I knew he was going to say that.

And now a few words from Jessica Bell!

ONLY 99c TO HELP SUPPORT THE INDIE AUTHOR & AN AMAZING CHARITY!
by Jessica Bell

The day I realized I’d been obsessing over my sales figures way too much was the day I closed my eyes and tried to think about the real reason I am an indie author.

Is my primary goal to make money? No. So why do I keep obsessing over my sales stats? I realized it’s because more sales means more people reading my work. What I really really want is to be read. I want to share the one thing in this world I would cut my fingers off for. I know. If I didn’t have any fingers, I wouldn’t be able to physically write, but you know what I mean.

My passion for writing comes with a perpetual replacement button, attached to my side seam, just in case it becomes unraveled, and falls off, after a day gallivanting through the publishing jungle. It can be tough in there, but in the end, being an indie author is OH SO WORTH IT.

This made me wonder …  what’s everybody else’s story?
Then Indiestructible was born.

Need motivation and inspiration to self-publish, or sign that contract with an interested small press? Have you done all the research you can, but still feel ambivalent about the idea? Indiestructible: Inspiring Stories from the Publishing Jungle brings you the experiences of 29 indie authors—their passions, their insights, their successes—to help you make the leap into indie publishing.

This is not a how-to guide. This is the best of the indie tradition of experienced authors paying forward what they’ve learned, giving you information to help you on your journey. The personal essays in this book will leave you itching to get your work into the hands of readers and experience, first-hand, all the rewards indie publishing has to offer.

Not only is this anthology packed full of interesting, unique, and genuinely helpful information, and totally worth the 99c (only 99c!!!), 100% of proceeds will be donated to BUILDON.org, a movement which breaks the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education.

Pretty amazing, huh?
