Here are two of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of music that I’ve ever heard.

Adagio for Strings – Samuel Barber - Platoon Soundtrack

Raises the hair on my arms from the first note and brings tears to my eyes by the end.

Promentory – The Last of the Mohicans Soundtrack

This music plays during the most impressive kiss I’ve ever seen and during the most heart wrenching, heart breaking scene at the end of the film.


I just know I'm going to see a bunch of songs on your blogs and say, "Why didn't I think of that one?"

Stormy has had numerous photo shoots in the last two days. But, I haven't written any of the posts yet.

Typical.


I edited three more chapters of my book in the last few days.

I feel like I'm just limping along to the end of what I have written.

Like I'm slowly turning the crank on a Jack-in-the-box patiently waiting for the sudden but inevitable randomly generated

of the top and the friendly looking yet horribly scary clown to jump out.

Or...

I feel like I'm dragging my heels.

I don't know what the problem is.

It's annoying. That's what it is.

Really freakin' annoying.

A spotlight on school projects! Happy Irish Soda Bread Day!

Happy 'almost' St. Patrick's Day.

Today's blog post is about my son's unusual March school projects.

In Kindergarten, DJ had to make a Leprechaun trap.

It was pretty cool. The Leprechaun would be tempted to follow the gold coins and end up under the basket. There was a bit of string attached to the stick and if you pulled it, voilà, one trapped Leprechaun.

Its a good thing we took pictures of it because the Leprechaun (aka 'The Kindergarten Teachers') trashed all the traps so they wouldn't get caught.

Yep. Still bitter.

This year, First Grade, the kids had to create a story about the Lepretater. He's a hybrid.

Yes. That is a real potato under all that felt. The story that DJ came up with was very cute. 

French Fry Man finds Gold!
Once upon a time a Leprechaun ran so fast that his clothes flew off and landed next to a regular old potato. The potato's name was French Fry Man and he put on the clothes. Then he saw a rainbow. French Fry Man followed the rainbow all the way to the pot of gold. He gave the gold to his potato friends. The End. 

I'm not sure I would be that generous with my pot of gold. DJ had to write all this in a report and illustrate the whole thing. My son has now been published before me.

At least this project came back in one piece!

Tomorrow we head to the firehouse for the 14th Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner at my husband's fire company. I'll be working this year but it's still a lot of fun with some really great food.

Irish Soda Bread. Thank you, Ireland.

Although, this website will tell you what we are eating is 'cake' not traditional bread.

For me? You shouldn't have!

First up is the Dream Launcher award from Tara.

I looked it up, and found the origin here, and the award was apparently created from many awards smooshed all together to make one wonderful award.

It was meant as a Thank You to those that helped you become the writer that you are today.


Well, let's see. First, I have to thank my Mom, Suz, and her red pen. She is the reason I edit more than I write. Wait, that sounded like a bad thing.

Then a former friend from high school. We used to write stories together. Mostly about rock bands or actors that we obsessed about admired. I would start writing a story in a notebook and the next day I would hand it to her and she would continue the story. We would fill notebooks with crazy stories. It's what really got me started on dialogue. I was great at that and she was great at description. And yes, the girl always got the hot guy in the end.

Lastly, I would have to thank my Anonymous commenter, K. She is one of my 'editors' that I often refer to. She keeps me honest and motivated all the time. Mostly like: "Stop blogging, Heather, and finish the damn story or I'll kick your ass with my black belt." But, I'll take whatever incentive I can get.

“You didn’t even open it,” Maggie said.

“I will, back at the station. It’s the most important piece of physical evidence we’ve found and I need to follow procedure. I do need a favor from you though.”

Maggie raised an eyebrow. “Like?”

“Do you think you could keep the book a secret for now? I would like to read through it before I have to disclose it and turn it over to the Feds.”

“Do you think I have the FBI on speed dial or something?”

Jack smiled a little as he shrugged. “You may feel obligated to contact Special Agent Hamilton and I’d just like a day or two, is all.

“No need for you to worry, I won’t be calling him anytime soon.”

Countdown - Assemble.

I can barely contain myself.

 The wait just might kill me.

55 days until The Avengers movie comes out.

It's all I can think about. I even put a little countdown clock in the corner of my blog. See it?

I wouldn't call it an obsession but other professional type people probably would.

Have you seen the newest trailer?

Such a great cast (hot too, very hot) mixed with just the right director (genius).

Have you seen all the movies leading up to this one?

If you haven't, there are two schools of thought out there. Watch them in the order they were released and/or watch them in chronological order.

Released: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America, The Avengers.

Chronological: The First Avenger: Captain America, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers.

Will it make a difference? I don't know but the week before The Avengers movie is released I plan on watching them all again.

Ever want to see a movie so bad that you talk about it months before its released?

Spoken like a true Rolling Stone: You can't always get what you want. But, if you try sometimes, well you just might find, you'll get what you need.

I can't ... think of a place I would rather be.

Top ten things I did today instead of write...

First I would like to thank those of you who left ideas for Stormy on Friday's blog post.

You guys made some great suggestions that I'm sure Stormy will love! If you didn't get to read them, or leave your suggestion, there is always time so just use the link above.

Now. It's Monday. It's been Monday...all day...if you know what I mean.

I didn't write or read a word of my book today. Not the best plan I've ever had but I'm assuming my brain had a reason and just chose not to share it with me.

So...here is the Top Ten List of the things I did today instead of writing.

There was coffee somewhere in the middle of that too. There's about to be coffee again.

Yeah. I know. I'll never get anything done with a schedule like this.

A star is born...but he needs your ideas!

The Blogging from A to Z Challenge is just around the corner (plenty of time to still sign up) and I have started my spreadsheet to get a few thoughts jotted down.

This year, Stormy the Weather Gnome, will have the starring role in all 26 posts.

And, since he is so well spoken (love his accent) the posts will certainly be from his point of view.

I have some great ideas, scenarios and concepts for Stormy for his upcoming appearance on the blog. He's going to do some traveling, perhaps some song and dance, maybe even a little cross-dressing.

But, I thought it might be fun to get some of your ideas as well.

What would you like to see Stormy do for the A to Z Challenge? He's pretty versatile so don't be shy with your suggestions.
