You just can't find good help these days.
The Muse is buried under the cozy warm blankets with a hot cup of coffee and not willing to come out and help me.
I can't blame it, it's freezing out there. We've had small amounts of snow falling each day and we are expecting more at the end of the week. It's cold and dreary and stark white and boring. If I could stay under the covers, I certainly would.
So, I'm stuck. I'm not writing, I'm not editing, I'm not reading.
It sucks.
But, I know with some time and patience (yeah, I have soooo much of that) that The Muse will return with words aplenty for me to type.
Right?
This was another entry in the Insecure Writer's Support Group created by Alex J. Cavanaugh, The Ninja Captain.

Alex's Wednesday Movie Quote: Crime Thriller
Silence of the Lambs
Clarice Starling: Yes.
Hannibal Lecter: And you think if you save poor Catherine, you could make them stop, don't you? You think if Catherine lives, you won't wake up in the dark ever again to that awful screaming of the lambs.
Clarice Starling: I don't know. I don't know.
Hannibal Lecter: Thank you, Clarice. Thank you.
Next week's theme: Romantic Comedy

Did you also notice that Alex has announced his next blogfest?
Hell, if it wasn't for Alex I wouldn't have a thing to talk about today.
Thanks, Alex!
My muse is equally MIA, except she's more likely to be playing hide and seek somewhere, not settled down with a coffee! Hope inspiration strikes soon!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you've hit the nail on the head. Get under the covers with her and wrestle that cup of coffee out of her hands!
ReplyDeleteMy muse wanders at will, as well. I think the best thing to do is read and watch good movies and TV. They can both be very inspiring. I just discovered The Following on Fox and The Americans on FX. They're both great shows with excellent plots and wonderful characters. Give 'em a try. Your muse might enjoy them, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm checking the want ads to see if there's a listing for muses. If I locate some that look promising, I'll let you know.
ReplyDeleteSend Stormy and Sparks in!
ReplyDeleteExcellent quote for today.
And thanks for mentioning my blogfest.
I think you'd better get that Muse in check! It's depressing to not write, wears on the stamina and makes you feel so lacking. Turn up the heater, bribe it, get out the whipping stick, whatever it takes to get that Muse doing its job.
ReplyDeleteLove your sense of humor! Coffee always inspires me . . . go get yourself a Starbucks:-) My first time stopping by, and sooo glad you are a supporter of zombie equal rights!
ReplyDeleteOoh, the elusive Muse.. I've been there. It's not nice. Try bird-traps. She usually falls for it if you put the right bait (coffee, movie marathons, other people's books, ect.)
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't know what zombie equal rights is, but it sounds like something I'd totally support.
Anyway, thanks for sharing:)
Yeah, I have to admit my muse has been a little quiet lately.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your muse will feel better when she's warm and rested.
ReplyDeleteHi, Heather,
ReplyDeleteSame here in Chicago... So your muse is on vacation. She deserves a break. Don't worry about it. She will let you know when she gets bored with staying in bed....
Here muse....here musey....Momma has some delicious verbs and contractions for you! :)
ReplyDeletesmack the muse, smack the muse! :D
ReplyDeleteBlogger needs a 'like' button. These comments were great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great support peeps!
It’s good to know, although annoying to all of us, that our Muses have minds of their own.
Have a great day!
Heather
My muse does the same thing sometimes. Have you tried bribing her?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giggles. Good thing you we all know Alex :)
