Compliance will be rewarded. Are you ready to comply?

Sorry. Loved that line from Agent's of SHIELD the other night and I thought it was so appropriate for working on edits.

It's a good thing I'm normally alone when I'm working on them. I must sound like a bi-polar maniac.

I'm like a toddler. Yelling at my computer. Giving the edits the finger. Like anyone could see it?

Trying not to be upset, but failing miserably. Breathing. Lots of breathing.

Realizing that the edits are only supposed to make the story better. Making the edits, but of course, making them my way which takes longer.

Any of this sound familiar or is it just me?

That's what I thought.

The good news is that I think I'm done with the cover for One Good Catch. It looks awesome. Probably not what most people expect for a romance novel, but then again, I'm not a normal romance author. :)

Heading back into the editing cave.

I hope y'all have a nice day!

  1. You can do it! Need some snarky comments on your manuscript to motivate you? Motivates me!
Not what I would expect for the cover? With that title, I'm now envisioning a large mouth bass...

  2. I do more crying than yelling when I do edits. Actually I had to work with an editor once who made me swear every time I read her comments. I had to get up and walk away sometimes so I could approach her recommendations like an adult.

  3. Ooh! Can't wait to see the cover. I actually get along quite well with my edits. It's my first drafts that get the angry treatment. =)

  4. Don't worry, when it's all done you will love your book, forgetting how much it ticked you off during edits. Who am I kidding? Have some chocolate. You are doing a great job and I know your cover will be awesome. I am all for romance novels that have original covers. Half naked people are great, but sometimes you need something else. Wishing you the best.

  5. Editing is tough; I think it's similar to going to the dentist. It can be painful and no one likes it, but at the same time it's important and necessary. It's tough for me because I always write too much and I want to keep everything; that's why I keep an "extras" file of all the stuff that I cut out of the story. I got the idea from another writer.
