I was so close to finishing my edits on One Good Catch I could almost taste it, but the amount of editor comments in those last pages had tripled.
I shouted for mercy! Called out, UNCLE! I even poured myself an adult beverage, which never ever happens. Never.
Finally. Late in the evening of MLK day, I actually finished the damn edits.
No small miracle.
Then I looked around my house.
Ewwwww.
I'm trying to catch up on dishes and laundry. At least until the editor sends me the edits for Already Home.
Those will be more red than black, I'm sure.
I'm also working on my post for the OGC cover reveal on 2-13-2015 and just added OGC and AH to Goodreads.
It's getting a little more real, but I've been down this road before, so I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

A discussion I had on FB recently...
I'm
wondering if there's a clinical name for the syndrome I suffer.
It's not really an earworm, but more of a temporary music obsession.
A song will grab my attention, maybe I catch part of it or its in a commercial ad, something like that. And then I HAVE to know what it is.
Then I HAVE to listen to it. A lot.
Like all day.
Its always in my head when I'm not playing it until it gets to the point that I HAVE to listen to it again.
This lasts maybe 3 or 4 days and then I'm over it. I still like the song, but I have no need to play it again and again like an addict. -- It's just me, right?
So, the good news is, it's not just me!
The bad news, we apparently all suffer from this unnamed syndrome. :)
So much so, that Nancy S. Thompson sent me this pic...

It's ok, I'm pretty sure I have that syndrome, too. Actually, right now I'm listening to the same two songs on repeat. Over and over and over....
ReplyDeleteHooray for getting the edits done! And sometimes an adult beverage is necessary. Hey, I even came up with a plot twist while under the influence once.
That's so Nancy!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are done with the edits. Now you can find your poor house.
Off to Goodreads!
Awww well done getting your edits finished and yes an adult beverage is sometimes necessary. I don't have that problem with music too often but it does from time to time pop up, sadly I seem to get the annoying songs I loath, stuck in my head more than the good ones. Which is definitely no fun. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the edits. I get songs stuck in my head but usually some distractions chases them away.
ReplyDeleteI definitely have that syndrome!
ReplyDeleteIt happens a lot when I'm learning choir music.. I'll walk around humming Bach or Brahms or whatever, and then when people ask what I'm humming and I tell them.. Well there's definitely a moment of feeling like a nerd. Gotta be a proud nerd though, right?
Good luck with the cleaning..
Yes, I had to face a sitting room this morning - it looked as though it had been hit by a tornado... and good to hear that others suffer from this musical repetition. It happens when my mind is far too busy, so know when to watch out for this happening. Just loved the hat.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations with your edits! Good-luck with the rest.
ReplyDeleteLol. I like the hat. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGood job getting your edits done!
Ahhh the joys of edits, eh?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I suffer from that unnamed thing. I can listen to a song over and over, but not like that. Does that make me the weird one? o.o
Good for you for finishing those edits. And I know what you mean about the music. When I download a new song on my iPod, I listen to it over and over again just because I like it so much; sometimes I'll spend an entire commute (which can be up to an hour long) just listening to that one song on repeat.
ReplyDeleteMy brain hides the repeat button from me...all the time...it's like having OCD for not knowing where the repeat button is on your phone
ReplyDeleteI had a song sneak into my head recently that I used to know but hadn't heard or thought of for years. I couldn't remember all the words and it made me crazy for days until I tore the house apart finding the CD it was on and listened to it. I played it a half dozen times until I had all the words back and now I'm done. Too weird?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting the edits done. For now at least.
That tinfoil hat looks like a Hershey's kiss. Now I want chocolate! :) Congrats on getting the edits done. I just finished the last of the revisions for my UF novel too. Such a big relief!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe Stormy wasn't more help taking care of things while you were busy!
ReplyDeleteI've always had that temporary music syndrome, but it's been especially prevalent since I start doing the Battle of the Bands on my blog.
