I'm actually NOT ready to change seasons, but I am ready for the 9 year old to go back to school!
YAY!!!
He goes to his first day of Middle School, which starts 5th grade here, this Thursday.
Yes, your math is correct. He only has to go to school for 2 days this week.
I suppose its enough to get his feet wet.
And then a three day weekend!
UGH. Happy Labor Day!
And a three day weekend the next week, too.
Huh. Rosh Hashanah.
And an early dismissal that same week.
Damn. He's like home all the time!
Oh well. We will make it work.

Our last exciting day-event for the summer was going to the NY Air Show at Stewart International Airport here in the original OC. (That's Orange County, NY.)
It was also a day of remembrance. A pilot crashed and died on Friday while he was practicing for the weekend.
The air show was truly amazing to watch. I'm always in awe of what these pilots can do with an airplane. I'll share a few photos at the bottom of this post....but FIRST....
YOU HAVE TO BE HERE ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND FOR THE INSECURE WRITER'S SUPPORT GROUP MONTHLY POST!
THE MOST AMAZING OPPORTUNITY WILL BE ANNOUNCED FROM THE GROUP AND I'M HAPPY AND PROUD TO BE A CO-HOST THAT DAY!
SO NOT KIDDING! COME BY ON WEDNESDAY!!!
Okay, here are a few air show pics!
So sad about the pilot.
ReplyDeleteYour son looks like he had a good time.
It seems the kids here have a day off or early dismissal every week. They're never in school. Small wonder any of them learn anything.
Alex!
DeleteThat's the truth. It seems like they are always home, I'm sure not to them.

Sad to hear about the pilot.
ReplyDeleteVery weird school schedule. I guess schedule is not the right word.
It will be worse in Nov and Dec, I'm sure.

Bummer about the pilot. It looks like an awesome show. I'd love to see an air show once.
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing to watch.
DeleteI hope one comes to your area!

We used to go to air shows a lot. My husband's a pilot, so he can spend hours in, around and up in a plane. Unfortunately, we saw fatal accidents at two of the shows we attended. I doubt I'll ever forgot those experiences.
ReplyDeleteEven just saying that he died doing what he loved doesn't seem right. He died getting ready to entertain people.
DeleteI don't know how they do it.

Sad about the pilot. We used to attend a lot of air shows when our kids were little. They are amazing

Great pictures! Your son is adorable! And actually, the most wonderful time of year for me is not the beginning of the school year, since I'm a teacher; it just makes me think of all the grading I have to do. So the most wonderful time for me is school breaks. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sad about the pilot,
ReplyDeleteOur kids are still home from school and the August weather was in one word RAIN.
Enjoyed the post.
