#IWSG Day AND Show us your Insecurity AND The FREE Writing For Profit anthology is now available!

The Insecure Writer’s
Support Group

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Our Twitter is @TheIWSG and hashtag #IWSG

Remember, the monthly question is optional!

October 4 Question: Have you ever slipped any of your personal information into your characters, either by accident or on purpose?

The awesome co-hosts for the October 4 posting of the IWSG are Olga Godim, Chemist Ken, Jennifer Hawes, and Tamara Narayan!

Thank you to our awesome co-hosts today!!

Hope you are all well. I know its tough out there. There are lots of reasons to get bogged down in the negative, but we must keep moving forward. Step by step. Day by day.

"I don't care what you believe, just believe it." S. Book

Have I ever slipped personal info into my characters? Absolutely! I'm sure I've added my traits, personality quirks, and my personal pet peeves into all of my characters. They're a part of me, stuck in my weird brain, so it only makes sense that they would pick up my bad habits and charm.

How about you?

  1. Stormy will be jealous he's not in the photo!
We're all a little weird. Some just more dangerous weird than others.

  2. Shaun the sheep! I love him. I have a Shaun the sheep backpack from England.

  3. A busy old time! Shaun and Hamish did a great job of showing off the goods.

  4. The animals are looking good! :) I slip in weird bits of me too.

  5. My current MC drinks a lot of coffee and goes to coffee shops, and is also as neurotic as I am, if not more. It's hard for me to write characters who are more laid-back because I don't really know how they think.

  6. The picture is too cute. I'm surprised Stormy isn't photobombing it though.

  7. Do Shaun and Hamish come with the business cards? I'm all over that.

  8. Yes, we are all a little weird - I spend my time writing as a ten year old boy in the late 1700's, or as a twelve year old boy in 780 AD, so how odd is that? :0)

  9. Slipping our weird selves into the story - guilty as charged. Gotta 'write what you know'.

  10. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's pictures today. It's been a lot of fun.

And I like that 'bad habits and charm'. I know my characters are lousy with mine. :)

  11. Good to take it day by day in difficult times. Hard to believe that they will pass, but I can say from experience that even the worst ones do pass.

  12. Was Stormy taking a nap? Hope he's not jealous! ;)

  13. I wish I had some swag to post a picture with. Love the quote and you are right step by step is sometimes the only way to make it to the next time we can sprint.

  14. Wow, it's a busy month for IWSG, isn't it!
Pet peeves have to be easy to unintentionally slip in.

  15. Cute photos. As for selling yourself in public. That's it, the hardest game in town. Happy IWSG, Heather.

  20. I'd post a picture of myself if I wasn't totally camera shy (also I've never revealed my face on my blog). I like the stuffed animals in the picture though. :)
