W.W.W. - The Insecure Writer's Support Group!

Bet you thought you might never hear from me again!

Well, you were both wrong!

I am back and just in time for Alex J. Cavanaugh's The Insecure Writer's Support Group posting day!

Today we are going to talk about - W.W.W.

We've all had it.
We fear it.
We can't wait to be rid of it.

What is it you ask?

W.W.W. = Writers Without Words

It's that pesky time in a writer's life when all of a sudden the well has run dry. You've reached the end of your rope. Your happy meal is short a few nuggets.

You feel dumber than a fruitcake!

It sucks.

And it happens to all of us and usually at some inconvenient time like ... in the middle of your book.

BUT!!!

Don't give up. Those words will resurface.

Maybe not as quickly as you would hope. Maybe when you least expect them, like when you don't have any paper.

But mark my words! The words will return.

Meanwhile do something productive. Something to stimulate your brain. Clear off that DVR. Read a book. Clean out that kitchen drawer that won't close. Brush the cat.

Whatever you choose just make sure you aren't too far from a pen or a keyboard.

Do any of you suffer from W.W.W.?
It's okay. This is a safe place to share.

  2. I find that my greates inspiration comes when I wake up in the moring. It's a great time to write. My trouble is too many words and a need to place them where they belong. Good luck to you. :)

  3. www.writeranxiety.com. There should definitely be a website for this malady.

  4. Joking about it definitely helps. :) I don't think you are alone at all - I just left 3 posts with a similar theme. This time of the year seems to be sucking us all dry.

  5. Nice to meet you. I stopped by via IWSP and I'm now following you.

I have tons of words, they are just weak. I'm in need of powering them up. Ya know?

  6. Alex - You are so right! Yeah for nuggets!

Laila - I used to write a lot more at night when everyone went to bed. Then I got tired. I should try it again though.

    KarenG - So true.

Tonja - December does seem to suck! Maybe we will all be better in January. Thanks for stopping in.

Ciara - Welcome. I do know. We just have to keep trying.

    Thanks for coming everyone.

  7. That's one thing no one will ever be able to accuse me of, having no words! I'm a blabbering idiot. I can speak and write about anything. My problem is whether it's appropriate or not. Or am I doing it right?

  8. Nancy - I used to be that way. I miss being that way. Thanks for stopping by. HMG

  10. yep, I hit this occasionally. I usually get out of it by either taking a break or plowing through it.

  11. If I'm lacking words I go for a nice long walk. Maybe take a few days off. Sometimes the ol' brain just needs a break. I'll watch movies and catch up on sleep. After a few days I'm usually good as new.

  12. Arlee - Nice to see you! I think I have the motivation but lack the words. Is this one of those your chocolate is in my peanut butter kind of things?

Lynda - The break doesn't seem to be helping. Maybe I need to get a plow!

  15. I sometimes suffer from WWE - Writers Without Emotion. I lack the emotional confidence to write certain tough scenes. :)

  16. Oh yeah, I've suffered from WWW. Recently too. Could not figure out how to start the sequel to my novel. Everything I tried to write just didn't sit well with me. So I knitted. I watched TV. I made jewelry. I did crafty creative things. I also moaned about not being able to get this sequel started. I finally decided to try something new. I summarized the story and holy crap, that opened the flood gates and the first draft is finally cruising along. I am happy. =)

DL - I need to make a list of these!

Patricia L. - That is awesome. Glad to hear it!

Patricia S. - Amen to that! I love procrastinating!

Renee - Just a dash? Are you sure its not a tad? I can never tell the difference!

    Thanks for coming everyone!
