It's Monday.
That's all I've got to say about that.
I've been jotting down bits and pieces of book 3 for the last week or so. It feels good to start to create my next romantic couple.
Figure out what they're like. What they want. How they sound. What their history is all about. What they look like. What they do and why. Where they go.
I think that's one of the things I like best about writing. Developing the characters.
It's one thing to give them a name, but its a whole'nother thing to give them LIFE!!
Do you have a favorite part while creating your characters?
I like figuring out how they got to where they are at when the story begins.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I am not creative enough to create characters...or at least that is the excuse I use for having never tried. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love figuring out how I'm going to torture them—I mean, their favorite foods.
ReplyDeleteHappy writing!
I love selecting goals for my characters. Those usually fuel the story.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that I am that character... and see where I can go in my daily life as that person. Until I know them enough, not that I would hang with them... just seeing why I would or would not.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I'd say I most enjoy creating their emotional backgrounds and current emotional state. It's such a journey, and a different/unique one each time.
ReplyDeleteI like giving each character interesting quirks. And it's fun to plan their journey and evolution over the course of the story, too!
ReplyDeleteI love watching them flesh out as the story goes, getting inside their heads and learning what makes them tick.
ReplyDeleteI like characters who jump in and create themselves. That's fun and unexpected.

As I'm a total panster, I love watching my characters grow as I write their story. My favourite bit is when they start demanding I finish their story. That's when I know they are real.
ReplyDeleteI love drafting the characters; but not so much drafting a world. Revising the first draft is my favorite part of writing.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the best! Thanks for responding!

I think my favorite part has to be naming the character, because without the right name, the character may not come across like it should. It's almost like the name has to fit with the character otherwise the story loses balance.
