I feel like April was a big blur and now I'm into May, which is great, but it's like the 5th month of the new year already and I've gotten like absolutely nothing done.
Darn.
Well, today is a new day.
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and
concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been
through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven
for insecure writers of all kinds!
Alex's awesome co-hosts today are Nancy Gideon, Tamara Narayan, Liesbet @ Roaming About, Michelle Wallace, and Feather Stone!
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their
IWSG Day post. The question is optional!
May 3 Question: What is the weirdest/coolest thing you ever had to research for your story?
Please feel free to check out my very first IWSG Admin post on the main site HERE! It's all about the new anthology release, the blog tour, and links to the awesome authors!
As for the question of the month? Let's just say that I've most likely been on an FBI watch list for a really long time.
My browser history must look like I'm an OCD serial killer who likes to cook for large crowds and play with Legos.
Just yesterday I was researching on my phone how long it takes for a body to start to smell after a violent death.
True story.
If I wasn't a writer some of you would be concerned. :)

Stop in on Friday for 2, count them 2, cover reveals!
Big congratulations to all of the awesome IWSG anthology authors.
ReplyDeleteDoes Stormy play with Legos as well?
I can understand that weird browser history. I've got some strange stuff in mine and I'm not even researching a book. Guess my mind just thinks about some strange things.
ReplyDeleteI agree--this year is speeding by too quickly.

Tossing It Out
Oh my heavens! Legos, serial killers, and dinner for ten. I'm laughing my head off. That's me too. I needed to know the colors/smells of a dead body and how long it takes to get to each stage. Ugh. TMI :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Writers are strange, indeed. I can't count how many odd looks my critique partners and I get when we eat out and start discussing our characters as if they're real people. I always expect to get arrested on my way out . . .
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the authors! And how long does it take a body to smell? I'm going to assume there are a lot of conditions that go into it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the talented authors.
ReplyDeleteHow long does it take for a body to smell?
Okay, you definitely research weird things. And we all have months where we don't get much done. Hope May is productive for you!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm probably on multiple government watch lists with my search history. There really should be some indicator that we're just writers, not those lego-loving serial killers. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the anthology authors!
I've had the same thought, that the alphabet agencies will start to notice me thanks to several of my inquisitive researches. Or, the Wrong People will think I'm interested in their activities.
ReplyDeleteThe tribulations of being a writer--sigh.
Yeah, my true crime collection would probably raise some eyebrows if I ever were to be investigated. Along with my book about how to poison someone.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where this year is going either. Make it slow down! ><
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I've ever researched violent things. Well, historically violent things? Yes. Definitely. I can't believe it's May either.
ReplyDeleteLove the meme!
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that I can actually picture some sort of Lego serial killer? Maybe I watch too many crime shows...
ReplyDeleteWait, does a body smell quicker after a violent death than other causes?!?!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to delete your browsing history...LOL
ReplyDeleteMay did come up fast!
ReplyDeleteI worry someone will notice my browser history without knowing I'm a writer. :)
Hi Heather - well I know what you were doing in April - even if you don't! Congratulations on the A-Z and all the help etc. Body fluids - I think I'll let those be for now ... My browser history is extremely odd - but not for anything lethal ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteAlex - Stormy would love to play with Legos. If he had hands. : )
ReplyDeleteArlee - Strange minds think alike!
Jennifer - It’s pretty much information I didn’t really need in my head. : )
Nancy – Not arrested, but maybe committed! I know what you mean!
Christine – So many factors for body decomp it’s kind of scary. : )
Diane – Honestly, if the conditions are right, not long at all.
Natalie – Thank you! Me, too!
M.J. – Right? Our own browser designation or something!
Jacqui – We are in a dangerous business!! : )
J.H. – Just need to look up some deadly poisons! Don’t mind me!
Patricia – It’s quick, right? I’ve got too much still to do!
Michelle – I research way too much stuff. And it’s all out there, too!
C. Lee – He cracks me up!
Sarah – Huh. Now, would he kill with Legos or for Legos? That is the question!
Andrea – Yes. Yes, it does. : )
Cathrina – I do on occasion, but they can still find it, I’m sure.
Yvonne – It’s true. We are at risk!
Hilary – Ha! Odd is also fun, isn’t it?!
Thanks everyone!
I did some online research on how to kill a patient by tampering with their self-administered morphine pump. Now none of the area hospitals will let me in as a visitor.
ReplyDelete(just kidding on that last part)
I'm looking forward to reading Hero Lost!
