Lost & Found: Valentine's Edition
Do you remember that special feeling of love found? And who hasn't experienced the emotional experience of love lost? Some of you might have even lost a love only to find that person later for another go around.
Tell your story about love lost or found in our special Valentine's blogfest. Your post can be a short fiction, an essay, poetry, or even a song--let your imagination run free. Any genre is fair game, be it romance, historical fiction, memoir, or even science fiction. After all there are no limitations when it comes to love.
This special blogging event was inspired by a collaboration between Arlee Bird and Guilie Castillo-Oriard. Joining them: Elizabeth Seckman, Yolanda Renee, Denise Covey. and Alex J Cavanaugh.
I didn't want to just make something up for this special blogfest, so I thought it was time to honor someone special, so I decided to share the story of my Squishy.
Because I'm a bad mom, and never remember to write things down, we figure that we brought her stray-butt home, from the barn near my parent's house, around June of 2003.
Originally, we named her Sydney, but that didn't stick. She didn't grow like our other cats. She stayed small, so we renamed her Lil' Bit. Cause she was just a Lil' Bit o' Kitten.
Until we saw the movie, Finding Nemo.
It was the perfect name for this little kitty.
Squishy's favorite foods? French fries, popcorn, and peanut butter. And, she'd go crazy for chicken and turkey. Nibble your fingertips right off if you weren't careful.
She LOVED sleeping in sunbeams and spent a lot of time chasing it from window to window. She'd even yell at the sky when the sun went to bed.
She left us in December, but she honored us with her presence for 12 years.
We miss her everyday.

Sorry Squishy is no longer with you. Sounds like she gave you many years of furry enjoyment though.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, she was adorable! So sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blogfest shout out!
So sorry. Squishy was beautiful. So wonderful you had so many years together.
ReplyDeleteOhhh. Much love. What a sweet, sweet kitty. (Nibbling aside.)
ReplyDeleteLove those pictures of her soaking up the sun. So sweet. So sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences on your Squishy--what a doll. I had to say goodbye to my sweet cat in November. My kids are ready to get a kitten, but they're a bit hard to come by in February!
ReplyDeleteLove little Squishy! So sorry for your loss, but thank you for sharing your love!
ReplyDeleteSquishy sounds wonderful. Our cat used to chase the sun too. I knew where she would be by the time of day. When she was a kitten, she used to bat at dust motes.
ReplyDeleteSome beautiful pictures and meories here. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.

I can never remember when I got my animals either, unless they coincide with a national tragedy or important life event.
ReplyDeleteShe was a beautiful bit of a kitten. Animals can be so much work, but they give so much love, I suppose they're worth it. At least that's what I tell myself when I look around the zoo I call home.
I love the name Squishy. Animals are like humans, each with their own distinct personality. Hope you are copying with the loss. Enjoy the blogfest!
ReplyDeleteThat was a pretty good life together. A pet sure does become part of the family and is missed when gone.

Tossing It Out
I'm so sorry Squishy is gone, but it's very fitting that you wrote this Valentine post about her. She sounds like a real sweetie. We have two spoiled rotten kitties, and they're like our four-legged furry kids.
ReplyDeleteSquishy was gorgeous! What beautiful eyes! And I love that photo of her sunning... I'm so sorry that she's no longer with you. There's no greater loss than the loss of the unconditional love of a pet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your story of Squishy. What a great name!

Squishy and I would have got along fabulously...
Beautiful tribute to a special somebody.

It is so hard to lose a pet, our furry four-legged family members. Cute description of her.

Squishy is adorable! There isn't any other love quite like the one you get from and for a pet is there? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteAww, Squishy was so cute and I love that as a name.
ReplyDeleteAwe Squishy was adorable. I'm sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the nice comments!
ReplyDeleteI'm still making my way through the list!
So many great posts!

Aw, Squishy! (Spot-on name for a cat... "Ow! Bad Squishy, bad Squishy!" <= LOL :D :D ) I'm so sorry he's gone... Sounds like he made your life at least as wonderful as you made his by rescuing him. As a fellow stray-picker-upper, I know the lines tend to blur between who's whose savior ;) Hope there's another stray around to soak up the love Squishy left behind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a part of the Lost & Found hop! Squishy fits perfectly :)
