First loves…
Sir Alex…you are evil and awesome at the very same time.
Thanks for coming up with a great and very challenging
First Loves Blogfest!
Movie:
The first movie that I fell in love with was the 1992 film The
Last of the Mohicans.
I mean, I did love lots of other movies before that, cause I’m
old, but, this is the first one I left the theater, bought another ticket, and
went right back in for.
And, it wasn’t just Daniel Day-Lewis and his hard to hide
Irish accent that hooked me.
It was the whole package. The scenery. The soundtrack. The
romances. The epic-ness. It’s what a lot of movies strive for but most can’t
achieve.
Music:
I’m a lucky girl when it comes to music. Growing up we
listened to everything across the board. Really. Listened, played and sang. To
this day, in my own home, we listen to music of all genres. To pick a specific
song or a band as my first love? Not easy. If I think back to the first music
that I played repetitively on my own it would be my Aunt’s hand-me-down, cause
I’m not that old, 45’s of The Beatles. After that probably my parent’s cassette
tapes of Queen.
Book:
Books. Love them. I truly do. I don’t often re-read them
which is odd because I do watch the same movies over and over again. One book
that I have read more than once and will read again…Jurassic Park by Michael
Crichton. Ignore the movie. Read the book. It’s a thrill ride. Just thinking
about it makes me want to read it again. Makes me miss Mr. Crichton too.
Person:
This one…easy. I thought I had loved others…until I met my
husband, Chris.
15 years together in July. 11 years married in July. I can’t
believe it took me so long to find him but now I can’t imagine a day without
him.
How about you guys? Got any firsts you want to share?
Last of the Mohicans is awesome - Michael Mann is a master director. I remember reading Jurassic Park in just two days because it was that good. (And I am a really slow reader!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in my blogfest. The Ninja really isn't that evil...
Great posting enjoyed reading your firsts. I did have to laugh at the mention of vinyl records and cassettes tapes. Oh those were the days.
ReplyDeleteI thought I knew love until I met my husband, too.
ReplyDeleteThese are all good! Jurassic Park -- CLASSIC!
ReplyDeleteExcellent list of firsts! I also grew up listening to a range of music, some of which was before my time, so I also love The Beatles!
ReplyDeleteI very rarely reread books as well. I have a handful of books I choose to reread because they are that darn good.
ReplyDeleteNice one. I've never read or seen any of those. HOw sad is that!?
ReplyDeleteSo many things to love, how to find four...
ReplyDeleteWe all love something...right!

Awww, that's so sweet about your husband. I feel like this should be an anniversary celebration blog post dedicated to him!!
ReplyDeleteI am old, hehe. And I loved The Last of the Mohicans.
ReplyDeleteQueen is eternally awesome as well. I think it is so sweet you wrote about your husbannd. Very romant. Now I wish I had done that :)
Andrea
You, old? Hardly! I, too, love Last of the Mohicans and Daniel Day-Lewis. Queen was my second choice, next to Led Zeppelin. I know the lyrics to every song by both bands by heart! And Michael Crichton is one of me very favorites. I have every book he ever wrote, but I never read Jurassic Park. I guess cuz I saw the movie first. I miss him. I saw that his publisher recently released another book by him, posthumously. The last one, Pirate Latitudes, wasn't all that great. But I can't resist him. So sweet, your love story!
ReplyDeletei love your intensity! went right back and paid to see it again, like a thrill ride!
ReplyDeletegreat choices!
and awwww, soulmates! mine is also 15 yrs on June 28 =)
Fun! Loved reading about your first loves. :)
ReplyDeleteIt took me three tries to get through Last of the Mohicans. Not because I didn't like it, but for some reason I always put it on late at night and fell asleep! Finally saw the whole thing and loved it. Mostly for Daniel Day Lewis, but that's just me. :))
ReplyDeleteJurasic Park was a really good book! :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Queen. I enjoyed the Beatles too, but not the stuff late in their career as much.
ReplyDeleteWow, I forgot about Last of the Mohicans. My brothers used to watch that over and over again.

I've read all of crichton's books, but JP was my fav
ReplyDeleteThis was a great firsts post. I've seen so many people put their spouse and it's sweet. Fifteen years is awesome. :)

ReplyDeleteohmygoodness. that moment when the blonde sister jumps... one of the most powerful moments in film ever. man, i haven't seen that film in too long.
ReplyDeletevic - Exactly. It was stunning. The moment and the music. Extremely memorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming.
Heather
I haven't read Jurassic Park. Thanks for sharing. Going to find the book now.

Donna - So worth the time! Wonderful book!
ReplyDeleteMJ - Me too. I'm still visiting! Thanks for coming!
Heather
I can relate to nearly all of your firsts. Second Mohicians I've seen. Lovely. And the music. Right on.
ReplyDeleteDenise
Thanks for following. I've followed too. Hope we see more of each other.
I found the Jurassic Park movie scary (I was young when I watched it!) but I'd love to read the book.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Heather, thanks for dropping by and becoming a follower! Last of the Mohicans was a great movie! A Queen lover? I will tell you a little secret, my uncle is from Liverpool. His brother was the first drummer for Queen and quit while they were on their first tour in America!
ReplyDeleteDeniseCovey - I'm so glad! Welcome and thanks for stopping in!
ReplyDeleteRachel - If I can do anything today it would be to convince you to read the book. :) It's worth it. Thanks for coming.
C.M. - Nice to meet you too. Wow. A true celebrity! Remember, you never quit bands, it's 'left'. They left the band. I don't know why but that's what they say. :)
Thanks for the visit!
Thanks everyone.
Heather
Totally agree about Jurassic Park - that book kept me up nights! Very sweet first love. Congrats :)

Last of the Mohicans was one of the very first movies my husband and I saw together when we were first dating, so it is special to me too.
ReplyDeleteShiela - I'm gonna have to go pull the book out again and read it we've been talking about it so much! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBarbara - Thanks. Glad you came!
kmckendry - It was pretty amazing and epic!
Thanks for coming guys!
Heather
You're the 4th person to mention The Beatles. They were awesome. One has to wonder what would have happened if John Lennon would have lived - a reunion?
ReplyDeleteI watched the older "Last of the Mohicans" which I have come to find is better than the latest one.
Jeremy - Yes. They were awesome.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the old one. I should check it out!
Thanks for coming by.
Heather
I still haven't visited everyone from this blogfest, in fact I kind of...gave up on it. Shame on me! But here I am visiting you at least :) I have still not read JURASSIC PARK, even though it was one of my favourite movies ever. ;)
ReplyDeleteTrisha - Thanks for making time for me! You would love the book if you loved the movie. It's so much more!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming.
Heather
Sorry I'm so late getting here! Being out of town put a crimp in my blogging style. Last of the Mohicans is one of the best movies I've ever seen (though I also agree with your later addition of Star Wars as well!). And I love the Jurassic Park book. The movie was great too, but the book is definitely better!
ReplyDeleteS.L. - I'm so glad you made it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It really was a great movie.
I think I may read Jurassic Park again!
Thanks for coming.
Heather
Oh, definitely, Jurassic Park is a great book! I am sort of startled to say that I don't think I ever saw Last of the Mohicans. I think we had it at the theater I worked at, which means I likely saw the ending quite a few times, but I'm not sure I saw the whole thing. I need to see if it's on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteShannon - Yes, I did love that book. The movie is well worth the watch!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for coming!
