Brought to you by the letter R & the A to Z sign-up has begun!

Hello. How are you?

So...yesterday, I got another big "R". Yep. Mr. Rejection came to visit.

But...it's the first time it didn't feel like I got punched in the stomach. I guess that's good. Skins getting thicker.

After the So You Think You Can Write Contest I only sent Maguire's Corner out to one publisher. It was a shot in the dark anyway. But, I was holding out for that publisher to answer before I sent a mass mailing.

Then, a few days ago, I noticed a Twitter Pitch contest and decided to take a chance.

Do you know how hard it is to write a pitch in less than 140 characters?

It's SOOOOOOOOOO hard.

And they suggest, so you don't bore the agents and editors on Twitter, to come up with multiple pitches.

Yeah, right. One was almost impossible. I barely came up with two and while I was working on the third the day was over!

Pitch #1: Maggie’s actions entangle her in a murder case & land her in the arms of the new Chief. Jack must find the killer b4 he finds them.

Pitch #2: Jack’s got his hands full w/ murder cases, federal roadblocks & a vicious killer but he’d much rather fill his hands w/ Maggie’s...

Pitch #2 got a hit from an editor.

I was asked to send a query and the first five pages, which I did.

Then I got an email from the editor's assistant asking for the Full, so I sent that.

I'm currently in a holding pattern waiting to hear back from them.

There's that waiting again.

I'll let you know what happens, cause I always do. :)

Alex J. Cavanaugh is doing favorite movie quotes on Wednesday. Today's theme is light fantasy.

I don't know if this movie counts as light fantasy but I've been saying this quote a lot lately.

From Galaxy Quest.

  1. One of my favorite quotes!! Thanks for playing along. I forgot to announce next week's theme - will do that on Friday.
When my post went live last night, there were already over fifty on the list. But awesome to have Stormy rocking the Challenge again.
Congratulations on the full! That second pitch though - he was holding Maggie's WHAT? Or should I just use my imagination...?
