Need more turkey! STAT!

The hardest part about eating Thanksgiving dinner at a relative's house is that I don't have any leftovers at my house.

No turkey sandwiches. No re-heated side dishes. No pie for lunch.

And, that sucks.

Now, normally we have more than one Thanksgiving dinner meal, one with the husband's family and one with mine.

Due to scheduling and traveling plans this year we are having one Thanksgiving dinner and one Thanksgiving breakfast.

Dinner was yesterday. Breakfast is on Sunday.

Breakfast won't be turkey.

No turkey for breakfast.

Pancakes.

I know. I love pancakes too. But, I also love turkey. And stuffing. And cranberry sauce. And mashed potatoes. And gravy.

Ugh.

Do they have a program for this? I might need a meeting.

I guess I'll have to make an additional Thanksgiving turkey dinner soon with all the fixin's.

Just for me.

Well, I guess I could share it with the family.

:)

Happy 'Day After' Thanksgiving With No Leftovers Day.

Anyone have a Time Turner I could borrow?

K...here goes.

1. Happy 'almost' Thanksgiving.

2. Want to know what Maggie and Jack from Maguire's Corner are thankful for? Check out my Girl Talk Saturday interview with Siren Allen HERE.

3. The BOY turned 8 this past Friday. Nope, I don't know when that happened either. We took him to see Thor 2, or as my husband now refers to it, Loki 3. The movie ROCKED!

4. I didn't finish my book yet. I am so disappointed in myself.

And, now I've got way too much crap going on to get it done.

Like what?
Work.
FD AUX is helping with a Toy Drive for a food pantry.
Thanksgiving parts 1, 2 and 3.
FD AUX serves hot chocolate at the Christmas Tree lighting the day after Thanksgiving.
FD goes to a holiday parade where we decorate the trucks the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
FD AUX hosts a Holiday Shopping Spree.

Huh, I'd have lots of free time if I wasn't so involved with the Fire Department. :)

5. The house is a wreck. I really have to make time to bring in a bulldozer.

6. My publisher, Front Porch Romance, is having a sale.

Well, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Just so you know... I'm thankful for all of you.

Give a little to get a lot.

Just want to take a moment to discuss something near and dear to my heart.

Donating blood is one of the greatest gifts you can ever give.

Sure, its anonymous and no one will send you a thank you card, but deep down you know you are saving lives.

A life of someone that is loved or needed by someone else.

A life that could be cut short without an hour of your time and a pint of your blood.

While blood donors are needed throughout the year, they are most needed during holidays and in the summer. It is during these times that the number of donations declines while the demand continues or even increases.

***

Going hand in hand with this life saving gift is becoming a bone marrow donor and an organ donor.

Joining the National Marrow Donor Program is as easy as a cheek swab and some paper work. The donation process is quite simple these days and practically pain free.

Helping a person triumph over their cancer, or other life-threatening disease, is worth any discomfort.

Not everyone agrees, and not everyone is eligible, but those of us that are ready, willing and able shouldn't wait another moment to get involved.

Funniest thing I saw this week...

I know not everyone is going to think this is as funny as I do.

Some of you may not be a fan of Jon Stewart from The Daily Show.

Some of you may not be from New York.

Some of you may be from Chicago.

Some of you may not like pizza. (What?)

But...

This is classic Jon Stewart and I have to say that I laughed my ASS off!

Have a great weekend!

Stormy says...thank a Veteran!

"Hello Guys and Gals of the blogosphere!! It's me, Stormy! I'm sure some of you remember my gnome-quaintance, Sparks."

"Hello, it's ni..."

"Right! Let's get to it then, shall we? Today is Veteran's Day.

A day set aside to thank men and women formerly in the military for their service and sacrifice to our country!

We should thank those currently in the armed services as well.

It's always nice to hear a thank you.

Do you have anything to add, Sparks?"

"Well, I wo..."

"Excellent. Well said. So, thank you one and all past, present and future military personnel for everything you do for us."

"If I could just..."

"What's that? We're out of time? Thanks for having us on the blog today. We'll see you soon. Thank a Veteran!"

Resurrection Blogfest II! What post did I resurrect from the past?

Happy 2nd blog anniversary Mina!

To celebrate, Mina Lobo from Some Dark Romantic is holding a blogfest!

Here's her pitch: For Resurrection Blogfest II, I invite folks to resurrect a blog post published between November 8, 2012 and November 6, 2013 (or, since my first Resurrection Blogfest, whether you participated or not) that you think ought to see the light of day one more time before it shuffles off this mortal coil.

I chose this blog post because it seemed to resonate with some folks and because it's still relevant.

Dear [_______],

Dear News Media, you suck. Whatever happened to journalism? Fact finding? Truth before reporting? You're nothing more than sleazy lawyers hanging out in hospital parking lots looking for unsuspecting clients. I stopped watching your sensationalist 'news' a long time ago and I refuse to start again until you grow the fuck up.

Dear Law Enforcement officials, you're stronger than they are. Don't cave to the news media and government officials when they beg and threaten you for inaccurate crumbs to feed to the tabloid media machine. Just say no.

Dear Law Enforcement and First Responders, we love you. We're so sorry that you have to see such terrible things. We hope our love and support is enough to get you through each day. There is no one we trust more than you.

Dear Mr. President, don't tell the people that we will do everything we can so that this terrible tragedy doesn't happen again. You can't prevent them. No one can. If someone wants to harm others they will. It's not pretty but its the truth.

Dear Families in Newtown, we are all thinking of you. We are all sending our love and support. We are so sorry. We know it can never be enough.

Dear America, nothing is black and white. You should know that by now. It's not something we can fix by saying if we take away A then B will never happen. Life doesn't work that way.

Stop trying to place blame everywhere except where it belongs.

It's not non-religious people vs. religious people. It's not gun owners vs. non-gun owners. It's not Democrats vs. Republicans.

It's just people. We need to care more. We need to pay more attention to our kids. We need to help each other.

And not just when tragedy strikes.

I'm sure my words aren't new. I'm sure my words will anger some. But, they are my words and I will stand by them.

My heart breaks for these children. The same age as my own son. I had the luxury of waking him for school this morning. I didn't want to let him out of my sight and I cried after I put him on the bus. If you knew me, you would know that was rare.

My comfort is this, for every [insert deviant type here] out there, who wants to harm others to fill whatever hole they have in their lives, there are thousands of good people doing the right thing for others without wanting a thing in return.

Maybe one day the news media will report those stories.

#IWSG - EBS vs. Procrastination. Which one have I got? I'll tell you later.

It happens every single time.

I come on to the blog, I say wonderful things, like...'look at all the writing I'm getting done' and 'I'm nearing the end of my book' and 'it won't be long now before I type the words THE END' and then it hits....

EBS = EMPTY BRAIN SYNDROME

I don't know what it is but it's freakin' annoying.

I just want to write but there is nothing there. I know it's there but it's not there where it needs to be. You know?

I know you know.

And, it's not just procrastinating...

I'm not off doing something more exciting and not writing. I'm not like cleaning the tub or doing the dishes instead of writing.

I'm actually staring at the screen but the words they're ... well .. they're thwarting me. That's all. Just one big thwart.

Mulder. Face Plant.
The words will come back. I know this. Either I just got ahead of myself or the brain is trying to tell me that I've veered off in the wrong direction.

It will sort itself out, but I swear, I'm never telling you guys when things are going well with my writing again. Never!

How are you doing?

Thank you, Alex J. Cavanaugh for creating this wonderful group for all of us psychos, I MEAN, insecure writers!

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

p.s. Happy birthday to my wonderful husband!

p.p.s. My son's football team won their first playoff game. Looks like another week of practice plus a second playoff game this coming weekend.

Best Halloween costume of 2013?

So, what's the best costume that you saw this year?

Of course, I'm going to say my son, DJ, was pretty darn cute. You actually pump 'blood' through the clear chest piece. It's awesome.

Okay, maybe he's not too cute in this photo.

How about this one?

Zombies Never Quit. If you can't beat 'em, eat 'em.
This is what he wore to school Thursday. Kids were allowed to wear costumes but trying to comply with the list of rules just wasn't worth my time.

***

Best costume I saw was the outfit Buffy the Vampire Slayer wore at the end of the original Buffy movie worn by a young teen.

Do you remember that outfit? The white dress that Buffy had to tear the bottom off of and Pike's black leather jacket? This girl even had the white laced boots and the handbag to put stakes in. It was awesome.

I would have grabbed a picture but I didn't want to seem like a stalker. She was just really happy that I recognized her outfit. The mother said she was a big hit at NY Comic Con this year.

***

I saw this guy at the Halloween store.

I didn't bring him home cause Stormy's such a DIVA but I thought he was pretty damn funny.

Hope you had a great Halloween!

Happy football weekend!
