F@#$%^&*'N BRRRRR!

Well, another week has gotten by me and I haven't kept up with the blog.

As Fox Mulder would say, I've experienced 'Missing Time'. I blinked and it was Friday.

But, life should be getting back to normal around here soon. I think.

This morning, in the wonderful NorthEast, we have had our first freezing morning. That means the steps were slippy, the car was covered in ice and it's generally REALLY fuckin' cold.

I didn't even turn on the heat yet because we don't until November, usually. I haven't even purchased the damn replacement filter for the furnace yet.

This weekend's forecast...snow.

That is a four letter word that I HATE!

Not just a dusting either, which is what we normally get in November, but a 4-6 inch accumulation.

In October!

I'm not ready. And not just in the get out the shovels and winter clothing way.

I mean mentally not ready.

Winter is NOT hard here. It's hard in Alaska. It's hard in Canada. It's hard in Russia.

Here, it's just annoying but I'm not ready for it. I'm not ready for the long dark nights. The slush and ice. The cleaning of the cars. The shoveling of the driveway.

Of course my husband and son can't wait. They only think about the good stuff. The snow angels. Snow ball fights. Snow forts. Skiing lessons. Sledding. Hot chocolate and hot coffee after playing in the cold.

I know. I would love to know why I live here too. Sure, we get all four seasons in their glory here in NY. That's one pro but the list of cons is too long to contemplate.

But, as a New Yorker we must make due. We bite the bullet. We bitch and moan and then we go shovel.

Have any complaints about your local weather? Feel free to share.

Hope y'all have a happy and safe Halloween. I'll post pictures of Bumblebee next week.

GO FSU!
GO RU!

  4. Summer is too short here. But I do love snow, mainly for the skiing, sledding, and the wood-burning stove. But driving in it--hate it! Especially since we live in the windy mountains.

  5. I hear ya, Heather! And I'm not ready either. ALtho, I am in FLA and it never snows here, but since I work for an airline I spend many hours a day talking to grouchy passengers who are stuck due to snow. oi. Me not ready either.

  6. As someone who hasn't been around snow for a while, I'm not looking forward to it. I'm already layering clothes like crazy.
This weekends' forecast says 'snowstorm'. I hope they're joking...

  8. Alex - No. You can keep the humidity. I get plenty of that too. Not for six months though. Sheesh.

Tara - I agree. Expensive and icky.

KarenG - You're right. Wind sucks no matter what.

Susan - Fall is my favorite season but not with snow.

Pk - That does suck. Grumpy people should never take it out on the people who are trying to help them.

La Reine - No joke turns out. Lots of heavy wet snow. Bleh. Welcome!

Donna - Thank you! That is much better than snow!
