The opposite of resolute is me.

I hate this part of the year.

I don't set goals.
I don't make resolutions.

I don't like looking back at the past year. It's never good.

I'm not going to kid myself and pretend that all of the sudden I'm going to be organized and motivated because a new year is about to begin.

All I can say is that I hope I get back into my writing.

I hope it begins to appeal to me again.

I hope that the reading that I've been doing recently helps to spark something in me.

I hope that spark will turn into a passionate revival of amazing writing that causes the letters on my keyboard to fade with use.

I hope the revival brings quiet satisfaction and yet a burning desire to share my words with the world.

Enough so that I take the next steps to edit and polish and then send out a beautifully finished product that will be accepted and applauded and most importantly ... published.

Hope is not a resolution or a goal. Just a wish.

Happy New Year.
Be safe.
Don't drink and drive.

  2. I agree with you - 100%
I'm not the New-Year-Resolution type person - I prefer to set realistic & attainable goals.
Hope you have an awesome New Year!!
    See you around in 2012...

  3. Don't worry, I rarely drink in the first place!
The writing will return. I waited a while for it to return to me, and it finally has.
    Happy New Year, Heather!

  4. I hate resolutions.
I tend to do better when I stop making a list and start to Do.

  7. I don't look back either. Nor do I make resolutions, though goals are a different matter.

As for writing and your trouble getting back into it, I'll tell you what I told my best friend last week when she was having a hard time: Find some music that inspires you, that could be bent to fit your current WIP. Imagine it as an opera and see where it takes you. For me personally, I couldn't write without music. I don't listen to it while I write, but rather during all the other times. It puts me on the road, helps me visualize the story. There's a lot of music out there. Find the songs that speak to you.

Good luck, Heather, and happy New Year!
