IWSG - "I like this ship! You know, it's exciting!"

Holy Diversionary Tactics, Batman!

April is a wrap!

Thank the Universe.

Today is Alex J. Cavanaugh's Insecure Writer's Support Group day.

I've written many posts for this group.

Some were filled with insecurities.

Some were filled with hope.

This one is different.

I wanted to have more to share with you today but for now I will tell you this...

...my Irish ancestors were smiling on me...

...and I have signed a contract to publish Maguire's Corner with Front Porch Romance.

They aren't a huge e-book publisher...yet.

Like me, they're just starting out but they have lots of experience under their belts and a whole lot of drive to be successful.

I actually had an offer from another e-book publisher. (Yes, I was thrilled to be wanted by two publishers.) They published everything from sweet romance to erotica. I have no issue with erotica. I don't write it but I have been known to read it.

When I went to their website, it was littered with mostly nude book covers. I kept asking myself if I could send my friends or their mom's or new acquaintances to that website to buy my book.

The short answer was, no.

So, I opted for the up-and-coming publisher and so far the relationship has been great.

I will say that it's been the hardest freakin' journey of my life, and it's not over by a long-shot, but it's been completely worth it.

Maguire's Corner will most likely be e-published sometime in May. I'm hoping to be able to get paper copies by the fall.

When I find out about anything else you know you guys will be the first to hear about it.

Thank you for all your support. The times I wanted to give up because I doubted myself and my writing, you guys were always there to cheer me on.

And that is what the Insecure Writer's Support Group is all about.

Action-Adventure

Some of my favorite lines were from Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park.

"But again, how do you know they're all female? Does somebody go out into the park and pull up the dinosaurs' skirts?"

"When you gotta go, you gotta go."

"Must go faster!"

...and the best...

Dr. Ian Malcolm: Don't you see the danger, John, inherent in what you're doing here? Genetic power is the most awesome force the planet's ever seen, but you wield it like a kid that's found his dad's gun.

Donald Gennaro: It's hardly appropriate to start hurling generalizations...

Dr. Ian Malcolm: If I may... Um, I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here, it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you even knew what you had, you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now
[bangs on the table]

Dr. Ian Malcolm: you're selling it, you wanna sell it. Well...

John Hammond: I don't think you're giving us our due credit. Our scientists have done things which nobody's ever done before...

Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.
