#IWSG - 4-5-2017 #AtoZChallenge - D is for Dangerous!

Everything, Nothing & Stuff In-between- Random stuff from my brain

D is for Dangerous!
I'm a pretty easy-going person. I've only done a few exciting things in my life, like ride on the back of a motorcycle without a helmet and go on carnival rides that were on the back of a truck one day and set up in a park the next, but nothing really dangerous.

Whether I like it or not, I'm getting older, so I started making a list of some crazy things I'd like to do ... you know ... before I can't.

Like what?

-Kick down a door. Just like on the cop shows.

-Drive a race car. Possibly even on a racetrack.

-Run into a burning building. What? My husband does it all the time? :)

-Tactical firearms training. You know the kind when they run around in a dark warehouse with obstacles and you have to shoot targets? That.

-Travel. Hey! That could be dangerous.
So, it's not a long list, but I think it's got potential.
How about you guys? Anything dangerous you want to do?

  1. Sorry, dangerous things do not appeal to me. I am a pretty safe person in general. And now that it's pretty much only my daughter and me in my immediate family, I feel a responsibility to her to not do things too risky and could result in her being alone in the world.

  2. Not a risk taker either. Although driving on a race track has appeal. You can go do that at the racetrack in Charlotte.

  3. You know, they have tactical ranges in the Orlando area. All that tourism... =)

  4. I've never been too daring of a person as far as taking risks that seemed a big physical threat. I tend to be kind of wimpy in that regard. In many ways I've lived a life on the edge to some degree as other people might see it.

There are places where you can drive a race car on a track if you're willing to pay--it's not too cheap, but maybe similar to paying to do something like skydiving. I've seen the race car driving experienced advertised in Las Vegas and there's a track near where I live where I think they might still have that opportunity available. Personally, I'll stick to driving my van, but sometimes I wish I could drive faster without worrying about a ticket.

  5. I've done a few dangerous things, but at the time, they didn't seem dangerous. It was only when I looked back that I said, "What in the #!$!! were you thinking?

  6. Be sure it's a really old door before you kick it.

I'd love to hang glide or go parachuting but my husband, Mr. Safety and Responsibility, says no way. So I have to satisfy that urge with riding roller coasters.

  7. I've been kicking down (well, trying to anyway...) doors in my house lately. (That's just the kind of mood I've been in.) My significant other has requested I stop. I have pretended I haven't heard him.

And travel can totally be dangerous. Or so I hear. I don't really do it myself, though.

  8. Hi Heather - I've done a few things that people would call dangerous ... but not many - but kicking down a door - not sensible .. you'd probably end up tearing a muscle or ligament?!

I haven't taken advantage of the IWSG marketing aspects - but can see the opportunities .. cheers Hilary

  9. Yeah, your post beeped, and beeped, and beeped. I think it was an alarm?

Ha, travel is dangerous and the other adventures aren't???

You're right...nice to do the things we want to do before we're too old not to...which I'm pretty much there already.

    Original post. Enjoyed visiting. :)

  10. You really need to sign up for the Writer's Police Academy! I attended back in 2014 and would love to do it again. Explosives, firearms, fast cars, dead bodies and so much more. Check it out...and you don't have to even be a writer! (Oh, my husband is a retired firefighter...LOL!)

  11. I avoid danger, it's the number one cause of injury and possible death, so you won't see me skydiving, ziplining, or mountaineering, although I was a mean rollercoaster rider in my day. Traveling is just about all the danger I plan to face.

  12. Travel can be real dangerous if you aren't careful. I was in a hotel in Detroit and there was a knock at the door. I asked who it was, and someone said "room service." I hadn't ordered anything, and when I looked out the peephole there were two tough-looking gangbangers out there. I told them I hadn't ordered anything, then called the desk and told them.

  13. The most dangerous thing I'd like to do is sky dive. I probably won't because I'm too paranoid of the parachute not opening, but it is something thrilling that I think would be fun to try at least once. The other thing is see a tornado (from afar) in real life.

  14. Your list is similar to mine. Though also on my list is to go sky diving, bungie jumping, and survive a zombie hoard. Though, knowing my luck, I'll be the first one out, they love the juicy brains.

  15. Kicking down a door sounds awesome! I think I'd need one made of cardboard or something though LOL

  16. I'm not sure how dangerous it truly is, but I'd like to continue to explore haunted places and go to countries that may be on my own country's "Do Not Travel" list. I survived Egypt just fine--I'm sure I'll survive Peru and South Africa. :)

  17. So many of us don't find danger appealing. Interesting. But I love seeing my characters face danger. Hmm. LOL. Guess that says lots about me, eh?
