A. #AtoZChallenge - The re-opening of The X-Files -- #IWSG

My 2015 Blogging from A to Z April Challenge theme is The re-opening of The X-Files. I'm not going to reiterate the known facts about the show, but share with you how it ruled my life for 9 seasons and beyond.

A = Anniversary

Comic-Con, San Diego.

2 things happened in 2013.

1. The X-Files celebrated their 20th anniversary.

2. I realized I was really old.

I was a big fan of The X-Files.

I watched every episode. I bought the DVDs. The magazines. The stuff. I went to see the films...in the theater.

I listened intently to the rumors of a revival. I hoped.

And now, it seems the stars have aligned in the Universe, and we will get Mulder and Scully back for 6 awesome episodes.

Show creator Chris Carter is calling it, a 13 year commercial break.

I'm calling it, SO MUCH WIN!

~~X~~

Special Agent Stormy the Weather Gnome here.
When you get bored of listening to her drivel about her favorite TV show, make sure you drop down to the bottom of the posts to see me. I'm sharing funny quotes from the show.

Episode: Pilot
[Scully knocks at the door to Mulder's office.]
Mulder: Sorry, nobody down here but the FBI's most unwanted.
Scully: Agent Mulder. I'm Dana Scully. I've been assigned to work with you.
Mulder: Oh, isn't it nice to be suddenly so highly regarded. So who did you tick off to get stuck with this detail, Scully?
Scully: Actually, I'm looking forward to working with you. I've heard a lot about you.
Mulder: Oh, really... I was under the impression that you were sent to spy on me.

  1. Wonderful post. is it really 20 years The X Files began? I used to watch that and enjoyed it.
    Have a great day.

  2. I somehow missed most of the X files the first time round. Might catch these episodes.

  3. 'Instigator of words' is an awesome-apt description! Glad the files are back, and it was only a commercial break.

First time at your blog, second time at A-Z.

    Best wishes,
    Nilanjana.

  4. HA! Were you one of those who dreamed Scully and Mulder would get together? I was a little young when the X Files came on so I only caught episodes when my parents weren't home because I wasn't allowed to watch anything too risky (like Simpsons and Married with Children *rolls eyes*) but I remember thinking XFiles was pretty awesome. I'll have to go back and watch some more.

Good luck on your A-Z challenge this year!

  9. Didn't really get into it at the start - family life got in the way. Watched more of the later stuff and will look forward to catching up after the commercial break!

  10. Really! There will be 6-episodes of The X-Files? We liked the series, too. It got kind weird at times, especially the non-alien stuff. Netflix has the series and we began watching/re-watching the show, but have yet to finish it up. I'll be looking forward to the mini comeback!

  11. I'm so excited for this. I know it will only be a few episodes....however, it's still new content! And I'm old right there with you, sister. I still remember watching the pilot and getting goosebumps and all that jazz :)

  16. Haha! Now that I know your theme I feel ashamed to say I've only seen one or two episodes of the X-Files. I think my sister was into it but I was just too young.

  17. Are you kidding me? I LOVE your theme!! I'm super pumped they're coming back! I'm re-watching the shows on Netflix. And, of course, in my new urban fantasy WIP, I mention the X-files;-)

  32. So much going on today! Nice to "see" you again:) I know it's been awhile. But happy I insecurities today...(that didn't sound right...)

  33. The X-Files is one of the best television shows ever made! Your a much bigger fan than I am because I can't say I've seen all of the episodes but I did enjoy watching it when it was on air. Now you've just reminded me how much I still want those Scully and Mulder dolls that I was stalking for a while at online auctions a while ago. Yet, I also still don't have the moolah in my budget to swing for them. Shucks! LOL

  34. I never saw the show when it originally aired, but only watched it in the last 3 years. I was rather intrigued by the coincidences between certain members of my family and characters in the show. I'm absolutely convinced that we are not alone, and I currently have a family member who has been ostracized by pretty much everyone and forced into retirement because of his beliefs. He is a nuclear physicist and worked near Area 51, back in the 60s. Well done! I will also be watching the re-boot of the series to see how this goes and I'm excited as well. Thanks!
