My 2015 Blogging from A to Z April Challenge theme is The re-opening of The X-Files. I'm not going to reiterate the known facts about the show, but share with you how it ruled my life for 9 seasons and beyond.
F = Feature Films
The X Files (1998)
http://x-files.wikia.com/wiki/The_X-Files:_Fight_the_Future |
"Fight The Future"
Mulder and Scully uncover a government conspiracy attempting to hide the truth about an alien colonization of Earth.
The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008)
http://x-files.wikia.com/wiki/The_X-Files:_I_Want_to_Believe |
"Believe Again"
"To Find The Truth, You Must Believe."
Mulder and Scully have been out of the FBI for several years — with Mulder living in isolation as a fugitive from the organization and Scully having become a doctor at a Catholic-run hospital, where she has formed a friendly relationship with a seriously ill boy patient — but, when an FBI agent is mysteriously kidnapped and a former priest who has been convicted of being a pedophile claims to be experiencing psychic visions of the endangered agent, Mulder and Scully reluctantly accept the FBI's request for their particular paranormal expertise on the case.
I'm not going to lie, both of these films left something to be desired. I enjoyed the first movie much more than the second. I always thought they should do a third to wrap things up, but I'll take 6 episodes on TV instead!

Special Agent Stormy the Weather Gnome here.
When
you get bored of listening to her drivel about her favorite TV show,
make sure you drop down to the bottom of the posts to see me. I'm
sharing funny quotes from the show.
The X-Files movie:
[to a bartender, while drinking]
Special Agent Fox Mulder:
I'm the key figure in an ongoing government charade, the plot to conceal
the truth about the existence of extraterrestrials. It's a global
conspiracy, actually, with key players in the highest levels of power,
that reaches down into the lives of every man, woman, and child on this
planet, so, of course, no one believes me. I'm an annoyance to my
superiors, a joke to my peers. They call me Spooky. Spooky Mulder, whose
sister was abducted by aliens when he was just a kid and who now chases
after little green men with a badge and a gun, shouting to the heavens
or to anyone who will listen that the fix is in, that the sky is falling
and when it hits it's gonna be the shit-storm of all time.
Barmaid: [backs away] Well... I say that about does it, Spooky.

BEST OF LUCK, ALEX!
I only saw the TV series not the films so can't comment on them, but really enjoyed the TV episodes.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
They weren't the best.

I liked the first film but the second one felt like a really lame television episode.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for helping with the launch!!
Yes. This. It was like half-assed.
DeleteShame.
You are so welcome!
I'm glad I could be a part of it!

Hey Heather. X-files was one of my late mom's favorites shows. I used to watch it with her sometimes when I still lived in the Bronx. I haven't seen the films. As for Mini-Alex, I think he's trying to decide what CD to play. Congrats again, Alex!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Heather and I'll be checking back periodically for more A-Z posts. Eva
I think I made my son watch all the shows when he was an infant! What we mom's do. I like that you have this memory!

I'm on the hunt, Heather! Down the sidewalk, into the car, and now Mini-Alex is at a bookstore where he's going to read a passage from "Dragon..." to fans during a book launch party at the bookstore!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're having fun!

Mini-Alex is definitely in a book shelf. I like Fundy Blue's answer.

I loved the show, but the movies left me feeling a bit cold. Something was off about them to me.

X-files is one that will stand the test of time. As for Mini-Alex, he looks like he's next to some...what are those things? Are those actually CDs? LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt's true.
DeleteNot every show can pull that off.
TY

I agree about the movies. X Files rocked on TV, but didn't do much for me on the big screen.
ReplyDeleteNot sure why, but that's the truth.

Wasn't a big fan of the movies, but loved the TV shows. So excited!
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks like Mini Alex is checking out somebody's...CD collection.
Like this wasn't already the coolest group of people! Now I know we are all fans!

The only thing I liked about the last movie was the fact they finally let Mulder and Scully be together. I hope that continues with the reboot of the series.
ReplyDeleteMini-Alex is jamming to some CDs today.
Me too!
DeleteThey better not try to fix the parts that aren't broken!
TY

I remember when the feature film came out. I saw it in the theater!

I did think the movies left something to be desired as well, and the first was also my favorite. Great to see Alex making his way around the Blog-o-Sphere. Hope the attention nets him some more sales!

I didn't see these films, but I have seen some of those old X-File episodes. I think Alex is going to listen to some music. I see Dream Theater there. Perhaps, he is on an entertainment center.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!

Mini Alex looks like he's about to launch into a piano concerto to distract the enemies from the fact that their ship is about to be commandeered for the cause. Good luck, Alex.
ReplyDeleteWow!

I never saw the 2nd movie because I heard it was terrible, but I liked the first one, mostly.

Looks like Mini Alex is trying to choose a cd to listen too. I never got into the X-Files when it originally came out, but I've always thought about revisiting it now that I'm older and might appreciate it more.
