Y is for Yada, yada, yada - A to Z Challenge

Do you use catch phrases from your favorite shows and movies in your everyday life?

Do you, you know, fill in a long story with "and if she does...yada, yada, yada...she'll be up for parole in about 3 to 5."

Do you say "Shiny!" instead of "Great/Awesome/Perfect!"?

Have you ever said "It's not logical" and then raised your eyebrow?

What about "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die"?

Here are some family favorites:

"If those are my last words I can do better." F. Mulder

" Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" H. Washburne

"I'm givin' her all she's got, Captain!" M. Scott

"Who's scruffy looking?" H. Solo

"Spaceballs the flame thrower!" Yogurt

"Where am I going to get a piece of metal?... Out here in space?... At this hour?" T. Striker

"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking." S. McCroskey

"If the apocalypse comes, beep me." B. Summers

"You're fired! Everybody's fuckin' fired!" Lt. Mac

"The Inquisition, what a show. The Inquisition, here we go. We know you're wishin' that we'd go away! But the Inquisitions here and it's here to stay!" Spanish Monk Chorus

Got any you can't live without?

See you tomorrow for the Letter Z!!!!!

  1. "Isabella Swan, will you do me the extraordinary honor of becoming my wife?"

I love your quotes - we also like "Hmmm, Jim never has a second cup of coffee at home."

And how could you forget "YOU CALL HIM DR. JONES!"

    Can't wait for tomorrow!
    Love you!

  2. We love to quote from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Gilmore Girls in our house.

For movies, we quote Princess Bride, Airplane and Speed-- among others.

  3. I'm sure I have but can't think of anything just now. Good selection :O)

  4. "We came, we saw, we kicked it a**"

    "What hump?"
    Young Frankenstein

    "I didn't do it."
    Bart Simpson

I could go on all day...thanks for getting me started!
    Happy yada day =)

  5. K - I didn't want to give up all my best lines! I'm still stuck on tomorrow!

M.J. - We may be related after all.

Madeleine - Thanks. You will think of some, at 3 in the morning.

Tara - Awesome. I can't believe I didn't quote Young Frankenstein! Love, love, love!

"Would you like to go for a roll in the hay? See look, it's fun! Roll, roll, roll in-z-hay!"

  6. Nice lines I don't have any favorite lines I need to come up with some though:)

  7. In college we often went around saying stuff likd "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die" and "BabyRUTH." More recently, my mom and I are caught up in Steven Tyler American Idol quotes..."If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong." :D

  8. I have a tendency to not remember things like quotes so I usually don't use them. I may have said, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto." (Wizard of Oz) and I remember the line, "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" (Apocalypse Now) but I've never had the appropriate occasion to use that one.

    Tossing It Out

  9. Josh - We all need at least one stolen line! Thanks for coming!

    j.leigh.bailey - That's a great Tyler quote!

Lee - Ah...but isn't the rest of that line, 'It smells like victory!' That's a great line!
    Thanks for stopping in!

  10. So funny! We have a lot of movie quotes in our house too.

I'm from Holland, isn't that weird?

Do you also go by Froderick?

I mean it.... anybody want a peanut?

    and so many others.

  11. Heather - LOVE Princess Bride! Great quotes. Thanks for stopping in!

Please leave a message after the beep.
